Countdown to May COT...

May COT is quickly approaching. I know of only 3 of us here who are in. Who else is going?

I still haven't commissioned, should be soon obviously.

I can't get on base to get all my uniforms, but I have a friend who can take me to do it. Does everyone have their stuff?

As I organize to close up my house for my renter, I am stressing about it getting moved before I leave for COT. I can't get to TMO before my orders.... kind of freaking out about that. I know I can have someone else do it for me, but it would have to be a friend, as I have no family here.

So many questions and lists in my head!

I'm out running to make sure I can keep up once I get there; it's a great stress killer.

It shows the physical fitness standards, customs to get aquainted with such as when to salute and calling the class to attention. It has just an overall brief. It's not study material or things you must learn ahead of time. Don't panic! If I find things I think are imperative to learn, I'll let you know.

Mid - put the book away. You've got plenty of time. :) A bunch of that stuff makes no sense out of context anyway.

Yeah Right, Pooh!! I know you would read the whole thing through too! You are just as anal retentive as I am. I can prove it too.... I can ask some obscure question about a reg and I know you'd go find the answer. :)

Thanks you guys! I'm getting pretty pumped up. There are only 40days left. I'll be flying to COT. How is everyone else getting there?

I didn't make my arrangements yet. Don't have official orders or had contact with the TMO (?) yet...

I don't have orders yet either. I commissioned, then wait orders, then can contact TMO. My recruiter said he'd make flight arrangements for me. I'm in Phoenix and would have to catch a really early flight if I left same day. I'm hoping to leave the day before so I don't stress out about time.

i was thinking of leaving the day before too. would that be wise or should i just take an early flight the day of?

you have to go on base to schedule TMO. well at least, that's what i did with my recruiter.

You can actually schedule TMO over the phone, and they can send you electronic copies of everything you need to sign.

That's what I did, since I lived two hours from the nearest AF base - actually, from the nearest MILITARY base.

Yea, I hate driving 2 hours round trip for something that could be done over the phone... I have already experienced the inefficiency / quickly changing pace of the military / government just dealing with my recruiter. :uhoh3:

Anyone Know if Car rental would be reimbursed while at NTP? I am considering flying instead.

I am thinking of flying in the day before and spending a night at a hotel (at my expense - since order says "While at Maxwell, no lodging reimbusement is due to traveler" it also says that arriving early is not authorized) Or am I reading this wrong? can my hotel stay be reimbursed if I go the day before to COT?

REASON: Travel time for me from home to COT is about 6 hours . And there are no direct flights. if paraventure, I miss my flight/connecting flight or some "act of GOD", I will still be safe.

They won't reimburse you - even though I was within my travel days when I got to Maxwell, they didn't reimburse me for lodging in Montgomery the night before COT started. Stupid. You can get there as early as you want, they're just not going to pay for it. What they mean is arriving early on the OTS campus is not authorized, not arriving at Maxwell itself.

Whether they paid me or not, I didn't care. It was nice to get there a day early and have some time to relax and not feel rushed.

As far as I know, you're not authorized a government rental car at NTP.
