COT dates/assignments update, kind of

Published

just because a little bit of info is better to me than absolutely nothing i wanted to throw out there what my recruiter told me yesterday. i called him to see if he had heard anything (i've been accepted but don't know where/when i'm going) and he told me that he had spoken to somebody else about how long this was taking and they gave him permission to send an email up the chain about it. i believe he said he sent it to the top of the chain as far as assignments are concerned but i'm not 100% sure. anyway, as of last night he had not heard anything but he said it's getting ridiculous with how long it's taking so even if he has to "get himself in all sorts of trouble and raise cain" (his words) he was going to find out something by this friday or make sure it gets addressed in the staff meeting first thing monday morning.

i know that's not overly helpful but it made me feel a little better knowing that something about something was kind of almost getting done. so maybe before christmas we'll know something!

I'm with the 34th AES out of Colorado Springs! It's a fairly new unit started up in April 2008, the Unit is slated to be activated Jan 2011. I want to be ready and there is lots of training to do, not only COT but I ahve flight nurse training and SERE as well! Maybe we'll see each other at COT, that would be great! I'm a little nervous about the confidence courses, mainly the monkey bars! I'll just do my best!

Don't worry about the monkey bars - just show you're trying your hardest. I only got halfway across myself.

The only thing that scared the crap out of me was the high ropes course - but I COMPLETED IT!!! :yeah: for me!

Congrats for completing everything! :) I will complete everything as well, hopefully in March! Thanks for easing my mind about the monkey bars!

I got to go fillout some more paperwork today. Yes, again. :grn: lol. My recruiter says that I should know something in 2-3 weeks. Gee, that's only like 3 months later than I expected an answer! :)

You have the patience of a saint! Keep your eyes on the prize. :D That's what I keep telling myself when I think about my own timeline.

midinphx - the same thing happened to me - every time I turned around it was "come in and sign this" for MONTHS...

You'll get there - hang on.

Thanks. :)

I'm going to Vegas with friends next week. They thought it'd be a good destraction for me and we get to celebrate birthdays (mine included.)! As much as I want to be in, it is just as hard to know that I'm leaving my home and all my friends and family. Good thing we have computers and cell phones.

Thanks. :)

We went to Myrtle Beach for a week in May. I all but went black on my cell phone.

That's the week I got the call, BTW. :)

midinphx - good for you! Go to vegas have a blast! I know it's painfully difficult to wait (we all have been there) but know in your heart of hearts it is well worth the wait. Your time and energy will be rewarded ten times over. Keep the faith sista your time will come! :hpbday:

Thanks for the support! I didn't get any calls while I was gone, but I wasn't thinking of it either! lol.

One totally cool part of my Vegas excursion was watching the fountain musically display at the Bellagio... the song I got to watch was our Anthem. It was really beautiful and so perfect for me to see. :)

midinphx - glad you had a good time in vegas. when you mentioned you got to witness our National Anthem being played with the water dancing to it....at the risk of sounding like a weenie....it made me tear up. welcome back!

Thx ladyviola. I'm glad I'm not the only one to cry over that. I was starting to brush my tears away and hide them, but decided that they were something we shouldn't hide and let my friends see too.
