COT dates/assignments update, kind of

just because a little bit of info is better to me than absolutely nothing i wanted to throw out there what my recruiter told me yesterday. i called him to see if he had heard anything (i've been accepted but don't know where/when i'm going) and he told me that he had spoken to somebody else about how long this was taking and they gave him permission to send an email up the chain about it. i believe he said he sent it to the top of the chain as far as assignments are concerned but i'm not 100% sure. anyway, as of last night he had not heard anything but he said it's getting ridiculous with how long it's taking so even if he has to "get himself in all sorts of trouble and raise cain" (his words) he was going to find out something by this friday or make sure it gets addressed in the staff meeting first thing monday morning.

i know that's not overly helpful but it made me feel a little better knowing that something about something was kind of almost getting done. so maybe before christmas we'll know something! :eek:

i just got a text message from my recruiter that said:

"hopefully i'll find something out for you tomorrow but if i haven't heard by the end of the week i'll still be checking twice a day while i'm gone."

if he doesn't find out by the end of the week?? that is not an option! ahh!

Sorry to interject here, but is the recruiter supposed to set up dates? I just Swore in on 9, Jan. 10. with the AF Reserves and was under the impression that my unit will get my class dates. Are you all going active duty?

I can only speak for myself, but we are all talking AD. Reserves are vastly different. The reserve unit in which you will be assigned selects a Reserve COT date for you, which is only a two week course. On the AD side the COT date is selected by a selection committee once the boards review and select your application.

You don't have to go to reserve COT, though. I am going to the same COT class as AD. Which will be helpful when I try to go AD, lol.

Thanks for clarifying! I believe the squadron is sending me to the 4 wk COT class, which I am thankful for because I have no previous military experience other than being a military brat and wife! LOL I'm hoping for the March COT class we'll see.

Yeah, me too. What unit are you doing you with? I'm with the 36th AES out of Pope AFB in Fayetteville, NC. Have my first drill weekend coming up, so I'm hoping we can get March locked in. They are up for deployment this year, so I'm hoping that will help me get a seat...I won't be deployable until I go to COT, so, yeah. We'll see.

I'm with the 34th AES out of Colorado Springs! It's a fairly new unit started up in April 2008, the Unit is slated to be activated Jan 2011. I want to be ready and there is lots of training to do, not only COT but I ahve flight nurse training and SERE as well! Maybe we'll see each other at COT, that would be great! I'm a little nervous about the confidence courses, mainly the monkey bars! I'll just do my best!

Nice...we could be following each other around a bit. I'm hoping for COT in March, then Flight Nurse School in May. SERE is...whenever the heck it is. Can't find any dates for that.

I can't find any dates either. SERE not sure when that will be either. Did find info on the internet regarding flight nurse training and dates or did someone from your squadron give you the info?

May 31-June 26

July 5-July 31

Aug 16-Sep 11

Any others will be into October and will count as FY2011
