Cost of BSN

Im currently looking into getting my BSN In West Coast University. Its a 39 month program. The cost of tuition is 128,000 for the whole program. This blew me away at first but the upside is there is no waiting time and you do graduate with a BSN. Any thoughts?

WOW look at the midwest. My ENTIRE bsn costs under 30K from the U of ND. Mine cost nothing because I joined the Army. Over 50K and they are raping you.

I am going to the Ontario campus... Everyone looks at that number and freaks... It's up to u and ur current financial situation... I qualify for the full fafsa and I am taking out federal loans totaling about 10,000$ a school year and paying 1,800 a month for the remander cost.

I will only have about 30,000 in federal loans which isn't bad... I did not want to take a private loan out and the 1,800$ is durable for me... Everyone's situation is different, if you are able to do this then do it if not u can take out a smaller private loan and pay monthly the remainder... Financial aid at the school is very helpful, use them...good luck

I didn't research it, but I'm reading it as the Ontario, California campus of WCU and not Canuckistan.

BSN new grads with high debt loads are desirable to HR departments, which isn't necessarily a good thing.

My facility just lifted a 3 year hiring freeze on BSN grads, specifically to fill positions we've been unable to fill; 8 hour night shifts at a 1.0 FTE and no set schedule (24 hour notice of when you're working for every shift), they're expecting to have no problem filling these with new grads who owe $125,000, as they put it "they'll do anything".

But, isn't that what HR's want to hear?? That a new grad is so desperate that "they'll do anything"?

If you need the job, you'll work the shifts no one else wants to. HR's love that.....don't they??

That is insane.....and irresponsible. What happens when your grace period is over and you don't have a job to start repaying those loans? I lived in CA, and I know all about the cost of living and other stuff out there. Go CLEP out of what pre-req's you can and go to the 4 year university out there. Put your name on the waiting list now.

I got my LPN in northern California and paid out of pocket. I never had school loans until I got my BSN, because it was faster and cheaper for me to do LPN-BSN than do LPN-RN, then go back for a BSN. With the tough market for new grads, I can almost guarantee you won't have a job when its time to start repaying that loan. If you do, you are darn lucky. There's no guarantee you will have your current job.....or a job at all.

I'm only doing federal loans... And you can push them back for a while... The minimum they ask for is 50$ a month, I'm not sure about the private loans because I've never had to use them... The rest of the school cost I am payin out of pocket
