Has anyone attended coroners court? I was involved in a case last year and the coroner is going to call me as a witness. Have never had anything like this and feel petrified at the thought. Made a statment last year which went through the RCN, apparently the same statement will go to the court.
Mary do you have a staff support service you can go to, ours is called the staff wellbeing service and they are independent and brilliant. Just so you can talk about this face to face with someone in confidence. You sound so worried and stressed by it all. If not go to your senior nurse and ask her what to expect, she will have been to CC lots of times and be able to reassure you.I don't think you sound like a moaner you sound upset, is it worth going to your GP and let him know how you are feeling.
(((hugs)))
Sorry, I meant to reply to this before...
We do have Occupational Health but I really don't want to go there. I have spoken to Sr B who has been fabulous and she is now coming with me, my senior manager is coming too. Plus the Trust complaints person. The other nurse that is involved has not long come back to work after being on long term sick leave. Everyone kept saying to me how well I was coping and to be honest I thought I was too. However after talking to people they have all been so supportive.
Hi Sharrie and my other Allnurses friends, it wasn't an easy thing to go through but it wasn't as bad as I thought. We went for lunch afterwards to talk it over and then I came home and slept for ages.
The other nurse had a hard time when he was giving evidence but he coped ok. I'm just so glad that it is finally over with and perhaps now I can move on.
Thank you again
Mary
