In most states, each institution can decide who gets holiday pay, shift diff, etc. My husband works for a large supermarket chain that stopped offering a Sunday diff a few years ago. Only employees who were already receiving the diff still get it, and newer employees don't. Guess which ones work the most Sundays? And we are talking CENTS here, not dollars!
Look carefully in your handbook for what part-timers and PRN personnel are entitled to, and what are the minimum requirements for weekends/holidays/off-shift.

a contingent cena that i'm working with said that she doesnt want to work holidays becuase she's not getting a holiday pay. our human resources book listed 6 holidays and we must be paid hour and half if we worked on those holidays. but what i dont understand is why is contingents not getting a holiday pay? contingents dont have set schedules but they are still working here and why arent holiday pay policy applied the same to the contingents? are your facilities like this too? do think this is illegal and department of labor should be consulted?
