Needed some info on enlisting in the military as an RN. I currently have a associates Rn degree and bachelors in communication.
Also I will be beginning a MSN FNP program starting this fall. I am interested in joining if I am able to enlist as an officer.
Anyone have any insight as far as reserves. I am 33 and in good health.

I'm not in the military but I've looked into it in the past. Not recently though and I do not guarantee the information I am posting.
From what I understood the last time I was looking into it, you needed a BSN or a MSN from a CCNE accredited school in order to become a nurse due to it being an officer position. It wasn't always like that but that is what it is now except maybe one branch. You can always talk to a recruiter. They may still have special programs that you may be eligible for where they help pay for your schooling and you agree to work for a few years as active duty after you graduate. I considered one for my RN to BSN but the cost for my BSN was low.

Its a minimum of BSN for entry now. Must be experienced in the appropriate area to be considered. Contact a nursing/healthcare recruiter to get the most up to date information
Officers don't enlist they commission and its very competitive

As others stated, you would commission not enlist, but you must have a BSN, an associates won't cut it. As far as masters, to be a NP, the military is transitioning to doctorate level, they don't want masters anymore. So you'd be better off looking for a doctorate program, or else possibly getting your BSN, apply for the military, THEN get the doctorate but that will take a long time...Contact a healthcare recruiter to see what your options are. Applying to be a nurse in any branch is very competitive currently, they don't need as many of us so they can afford to scrutinize every inch and find just the best of the best. Good luck with your decision!

You need a BSN. It makes no difference if you have a previous bachelors. Contact a recruiter for accurate and up to date information.
