Hi everyone! I just thought I'd start the new State forums off with an introduction thread. Please feel free to reply to this thread if you wish. Otherwise, feel free to start a new topic if you wish to discuss other topics that are local or state related. Enjoy!

Hello everyone from Connecticut! I am currently a 26 year old nursing student at Capital community college with only two semesters left! I currently work as a CNA and I can not wait!!! till I become a nurse!!! If anyone went to Central or UCONN for their BSN completion, please contact me. This November I hope to make a decision of where I would like to go. My dream is to become a Nurse Anesthetist one day!!

Hi All,

I just got accepted to New England Technical Institute for the LPN program. I also work in a nursing home 3rd shift as a CNA. I will be cutting my hours at work next month when classes start. Every other weekend will be a major blow our income. My other half works full-time, but we couldn't afford more than bills and the essentials. My pay, goes to entertainment, Christmas, and savings. Anyways I am from Torrington. Hopefully this board will be hopping soon. :D

Hello!

I have been an RN for 19 years. I applaud anyone going to school for a nursing degree. I t has been an exciting, varied, and rewarding career for me. I wouldn't do anything else. I got my RN diploma from St V's in Bridgeport (it was a 3 yr program back then), and went on at CCSU for my BSN. It took me 5 yrs to get the BSN. This was while working full-time, and taking classes in the evening 2 at a time. It was tough at times, but I'm glad I did it as soon as I got out of school, before I started having kids!

St V's was tough, but I knew my stuff when I got out into the real world.

Anyone who wants to "vent", chat, or wants more info about going for BSN, feel free to contact me.

JoAnn

Welcome all! I am an RN w/ my BSN, and am toying with the idea of going for my MSN/APRN.

I hope to see this board become active soon!

Hi everyone,

Although I am a CT RN I just finished filling out the application for my Florida license because I plan to move. In fact, I discovered this forum because I have been looking for ways to get information on OB nursing in FL.

I work on an OB unit called Families Are First at Bristol Hospital. I love it there and hate to leave but I am getting older, and I am ready to move on and try something new (besides I hate snow!)

I am currently enrolled in the University of Phoenix online bridge to MSN program and I am more than a third of the way through. It is tough but I am learning a lot and I hope to do some teaching when I am through. I will probably never leave the beside completely though because I just love L&D.

Best of luck to you

Hi Missy

I am an LPN currently enrolled with Excelsior for RN. My daughter is starting NETI this Sept 15th. She will be going to the Hamden school. I see that you are from Torrington, so are you going to New Britain(I think that's it)? We now live in Ansonia, so they did suggest that she may want to go to the other school, but we are from Hamden and she wants to go there.

Good Luck with your decision on going for LPN. You won't regret it at all. I have only been an lpn for almost 2 yrs, so, being recently out of school, I do know how hard it is esp when you have to cut back on work. Income wise, after getting licensed and working, believe me, your income will be so much higher. Ofcourse, you have to have it in your heart becoming a nurse. It's not one of those jobs that you can go into just because of the money. Nor should it be. With you being in the field, you already have a pretty good idea of everything involved. It's a big responsibility being a nurse, and the rewards are overwhelming. You make such a difference in peoples life, very rewarding.

So, study hard, before you know it, you'll be sitting for the NCLEX
