You will never get another SSN#, the number that you have is yours for life. And it can be used to place on your application for CA BRN.But as it states, you will not be able to work until you have a visa that will permit you to work in the US.
Wow, how did leiza acquire this type of SSN?
Is there such that we can avail at present?
wow... thats a fast reply suzzane thank you so much. youre a big help!can i ask regarding the live scan fingerprinting, can a tourist apply for that coz im planning to go to california and file my application there. do you recommend that i process my application there?
Do not recommend that route at all. It takes four months on average to get approval and there are no visas currently available. So not really an option for you to even consider.
Sure, A tourist can use the LiveScan, but it will not speed up your processing at all.

Notice where she stated that she has had it for years. There is no longer any way to get one at this time, even with a dependent type visa. If you do not have a visa to legally work in the US, you are not going to get a SSN# assigned to you.
And even if you had a SSN#, if you do not have a visa that will permit you to work, it will not benefit you at all. You must produce a valid SSN#, as well as proof that you can legally work. Immigration is now cracking down on employers that do not verify this and giving them hefty fines.
hi again.
i agree with you regarding having a ssn doesnt mean you can work but im not going to use my ssn if i will be applying for a job since i cannot ( its indicated in my card that i can't be allowed) but would it be okay for me to use that number for my application for nclex? Sorry if i asked it again because of fear of legalities you know..
and another follow up, do you have an idea how long will it take me to adjust my ssn status to legally work? is that another process like getting a new one?
ohh.. and John 83, its even better for you if you dont have ssn i guess.. coz it just makes things even complicated. (just my opinion)

You can use your SSN# on your application for licensure in the US, it is yours. But having the SSN# does not make it easier for you to do anything as far as working. You actually need to go thru the petitioning process to get a visa that will permit you to work. Getting the SSN# for those that do not have one just takes about ten days once they are in the US and ready to begin work. Having a SSN# has nothing to do with the immigration process at all, and does not affect anything.
Having the SSN# does not make anything more complicated at all, if you understand why it is used in the first place. It is not given out in normal situations unless you are in the US and ready to begin work. It does not change any of the requirements that you need to go thru. It just saves you that last and final step of waiting the ten days, nothing more than that.
