Hi,

JJG try Enloe Medical Center in Chico, CA. Apply for any med/surg position. I think they are accepting new grads.

I agree with WDWpixie, please hault your usage of "text slang" while on this website. When texting you have limited space, so shortcuts are tolerated, but here you have ample space to express yourself using full and proper English words. Thanks!

To the OP, not sure where in the Bay Area you are but Oakland Kasier has new grad openings...

yeah i noticed your user name and i came to realize that this is not a filipino forum i thought it was becuase everything in this forum looks exactly like a forum called ********** and i also came to realize that you are not a filipino because you dont type english words using short cut example "that=dat" hehehe filipinos are very fond of using short cuts like "cause=cuz"so when i see someone's text and it is in complete spelling aw dis i s not a fil. hehehehe anyway where are you designated in ??which part of the united states are you working in???

I'm just gonna' jump in here because writing and grammar are HUGE bugaboos with me....

I'd like to say to this poster, that I, as a born-and-raised American citizen am EXTREMELY offended by your post. I am proud of my country and its language, much as I am sure that you are of yours.

Perhaps your "shortcuts" would be more accepted on a "fil" website. I for one usually don't even bother wasting my time trying to decipher this "foreign" garble. There are not that many more letters from "dat" to "that" or "cause" (which should be because) or "cuz".

P.S. -- Latina: you could've fooled me. Except for your screen name, I never would've thought twice. Thanks for your back up; it adds validity to our posts.

yeah i understand dat, thats why i was asking if this WAS a forum made in the phils??remember??because it looked exactly like a forum made in the phils called ********* istorya means talk in cebuano, yes ur right i am definitely proud of my countrY because we produce very good nurses and medical staff and very hardworking people, forgive my text slang and I am also HIGHLY offended by your posts if i may ask what is it that offended you??that i have mistakenly added short cuts??or is it because i just said that filipinos use alot of text slang?? as it is the capital of texting people make mistakes you should not be offended...please forgive my text slang..i was just used to typing text slang if you do not want to decipher the "foreign codes" as you call it.. then you may not...anyway no offense...i thought this was a fil forum because i did not think that americans would take up nursing as a profession and filipinos are well known to be a country where in most of the people are nurses..so thats the reason why i thought this was a filipino forum..again no offense take note of the word THOUGHT

BUT in fairness even though filipinos use text slang we're still very good in spelling and the english language although we dont have an american accent but majority anyway have an understandable accent, and to be honest i have not heard yet of a filipino who failed the IELTS exam..and with regards to the NCLEX and the local baord in the phils..the phil. local board has a higher mortality rate compared than that of the NCLEX which means our board exam is much harder to pass..FYI..yes i am proud of my country..

yeah i agree with WDWpixie.. i am proud of my country even if its 3rd world, the situation makes the people here more hardworking..thats why most filipinos succeed when in the united states because life there is so easy compared here so if you can survive here how much more there in the united states??and FYI even if the phils is the texting capital in the world i am proud to say that we are still very good in spelling and communication there are alot of filipinos who excel doctors, nurses, even designers im sure monique lhuiellier is familiar she is a native of cebu,phils..miss earth 2008 is a native of cebu phils..alot actually, yes i am proud...you probably think because i used text slang that "this is what the filipinos are, in fact no.."even though we use it most of the time never have i heard a filipino fail in the IELTS exam, and fyi, the phil. board exam has a higher mortality rate compared to the nclex which means compared to those who take the nclex worldwide plety pass only few fail but the phil board alot fail only a few passed..yup in other words our board exam is harder and i hear it from almost everyone i know who took both local board and NCLEX...cheers...

anyway WDWPixie no harm done ok??peace...just wana make friends and get some answers to some of my concerns here..

hi JJG... WHere you from???i hope you find a job soon i also have some concerns though i have not started filing to take my nclex hehehehe i actually filed for CA but then i dropped it because of the issues i've heard...so decided vermont would be better off but i still havent completed the req't i have joined this forum so i can do some assessments on how the picture would be like in reality...

how do i delete a post??? i tried to post but the page kept loading and so i thought it wouldnt post the msg but it did anyway..just disregard this post...thank you

Again, you "thought" that Americans would not take up nursing?

Our schools have waiting lists; there are more Americans waiting for positions in our nursing schools than there are student slots. The demand for an RN education is greater than our schools can handle for various reasons.

This is perhaps an area that you may want to do more research in. I'm not sure where your information came from.

Additionally, because of the many Phillipinos I have known, I have never considered the Phillipines a 3rd world country. Perhaps that is ignorance on my part.

I wish you the best....

actually she did not say anything about grammer or english she said that she cant get a job...probably her english is good already..one should pass the IELTS right???f u passed then dats proof enuf already and besides, btw are we all from the philippines???or are there nurses from different races here??assuming that we are all fil. the phils. is an english speaking country also so there's no problem with that i believe...

First rule of nursing, never assume anything.

And those that trained in the Philippines and in English do not necessarily pass the required English exams the first time that they take them. Much has been written about this on the Philippine Forum as well as the International Forum. And if skills were that good, then the English exams would be waived by US immigration as well, and they are not.

Take the time to do some reading on the other forums and you will see that there is quite a large percentage that do not pass the speaking section of the IELTS the first time that they take it. It is actually well documented and again, never assume.

Text messaging is also not permitted to be used on this site as well.

The local exam is now being required by a larger number of states, including CA. They are no longer giving exemptions to this rule. And it is not about which exam is harder, but the fact that less than 45% of those that have trained in the Philippines pass the local exam the first time, and the rate is about the same for those that test for NCLEX as well.

So please take the time to do some reading on the Philippine Forum that we have here to get the facts correct.

Thanks for your understanding on this.
