This will be the thread to discuss the application and interview process for CUI's ABSN program beginning Summer 2021.
Judging by the thread from last year, interview invitations go out in late February, with acceptances being announced at the end of March. There appears to have been a group interview as well as a timed essay component.
Looking forward to hearing from this year's Applicant pool!
Hi @futurenursesar! Aw you're welcome! I was in your shoes before so I wish I had some advice and tips. But I do wanna apologize ahead of time if I take a few days to reply. This program is nonstop.
From what I recall, you start the day with the staff covering the agenda for the day. Then I believe they introduce themselves. After that you get broken off in groups. I think I had 8 ppl in my group. Then one of the staff members come into the room and ask you all the same question. Each of you take your turn answering the questions, or the staff will call on you randomly. There will be some staff who are more laid back than others, but just be yourself and confident in your answers ? All of this occurs on zoom.
What I advise is that you get comfortable, have good lighting and a full battery on your laptop or tablet. Also, try to think of the reasons why you want to be a nurse and what qualities you have that will make you a great nurse. I hope all of this helps!
@K.quino16 The program is about $60k. This only includes the tuition and fees, so it doesn't include your living expenses. Personally, I took out federal loans and then took out a private loan. Not sure if you know this but utilize federal loans first before private loans. They tend to have lower interest rates and you do not have to make any payments while in school.

They advertise that it's an est. $48k. What's the rest of the 60k? Outside fees? Just curious because I've significantly paid down my previous degree fed loans & I'm not excited to get more loans but it is what it is.
@Tinyseabee So it's actually closer to $58k, but I rather overestimate than underestimate. It includes fees like graduation fee, student service fees, lab fee, malpractice insurance, ATI (system we use to help us get ready for NCLEX), clinical uniform cost, health insurance, etc. But some costs may not apply to you, like health insurance. I already have health insurance, so I don't need to worry about that being a cost for me.
Also, right now tuition is $825 per unit but I heard it increases every year.
@Tinyseabee LOL we're on the same boat! I have medi-cal
We have to wear a white top and forest green pants. Unfortunately, we have to buy them through the supplier that the school uses ?
@Tinyseabee Oh yeah it helps with those bleach wipes! I'm not sure why else they make us wear white. I think it's been tradition for nursing students to wear white scrubs for clinicals.
LOL a lot of us don't like the uniform but we got over it. We just told ourselves that we only have to wear them for a year

My grandma went to nursing school in the early 80s and she asked if I'd have to wear a dress uniform ??? We wear pants now thank God.

About how many different questions do you think there were for the whole interview?

That would make sense but tbh, all of my previous correspondence with the office has been pretty hit & miss. Just follow the directions in the invite exactly and it should be fine. I received no confirmation after I RSVP'd as they requested.
