Concordia University Irvine ABSN Summer 2021

Published

This will be the thread to discuss the application and interview process for CUI's ABSN program beginning Summer 2021.

Judging by the thread from last year, interview invitations go out in late February, with acceptances being announced at the end of March. There appears to have been a group interview as well as a timed essay component.

Looking forward to hearing from this year's Applicant pool!

Hi, did anyone who applied the first time and got waitlisted RE-applied and got in the second time around? Would love some insight & idea on chances of getting in!

I am interested in this as well. Got waitlisted for Summer 2021. Never got a call from the waitlist. Reapplied for Fall 2021 and am interested if anybody got accepted their second time around. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I noticed many people asked for information on the interview questions, but after they had their interview themselves, no one seemed to share. Is there anyone willing to share the actual questions that they had during their zoom meeting interview for admission?

Hi Everyone!

I'm currently in the program; started this past Fall semester. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

Good luck! ?

Hi! I was accepted for Fall semester. Wondering a few things...

1) when you take the online theology classes, are they scheduled at a certain time every day or do you do them on your own time but submit things by certain deadlines? The nursing classes that start later in 1st semester, how many days/week are those?

2) For clinical placements do you have any say in where you go? For ex. I can't go far because I take care of my mom.

Hi @lr88 sorry for the late response

1) for the theology courses, you do them on your own time but submit things by certain deadlines. When I took the courses, each week the professor would assign readings and videos to watch and then you'd write essays each week. For the 1st nursing semester, I recall it being 2 days a week. However, it may have changed since I took my 1st semester.

2) For clinical placements, you had no say so. I do not live in the oc area so I commute far and for some reason they'd always place me at the furthest hospital. there were hospitals a lot closer to my house but they'd never place me at them. They always told us to never request a change so I never asked. Maybe you could ask for special arrangements?

If you don't mind me asking, have you been accepted to other nursing programs?

Thanks - those theology classes sound horrible LOL. Yes I was accepted several other places but CUI is the most affordable.

LOL yes they were terrible. I hate writing papers so it was the worst! But you can get through it!

Yeah I would for sure look at what's the most affordable and fits best with your schedule. If you got accepted into a Cal State or CC, I would recommend going that route to say money

well a community college wouldn't cut it because I need an accelerated, second degree program, I have a bachelors already. I didn't apply to any other in-state schools, and even within state CUI is one of the cheaper ones for accelerated 2nd degree BSNs. Honestly I hate the curriculum and schedule of CUI ?

@ten129 hi! reading this thread as I am about to start the program in the Spring and would love some insight about the program. I've been reading some negative experiences about the program on reddits and would love to hear previous student's thoughts on it. Is it true that you get dropped easily from the program? How well did the professors teach and did you feel prepared for tests? Thank you!

@ten129 I just saw your message! Thank you so much for responding to me, I'm unsure why it won't let me respond to you on private messages! But I would love to ask you a few more questions, would it be okay if we linked on Instagram or facebook? I appreciate your time and help! My anxiety has been going off haha
