Concordia University Irvine ABSN Summer 2021

This will be the thread to discuss the application and interview process for CUI's ABSN program beginning Summer 2021.

Judging by the thread from last year, interview invitations go out in late February, with acceptances being announced at the end of March. There appears to have been a group interview as well as a timed essay component.

Looking forward to hearing from this year's Applicant pool!

Hi @nara ! From what I recall, they asked me why do I want to do nursing, why Concordia, what qualities do I have that I think will make me a good nurse, how will I provide self care since it is an accelerated program, what qualities do I think a nurse should have. That's all I can remember. I hope that helps! ? 

We also had our interview on zoom, because of covid-19, and it was a looonnnggg day so prepare yourself!

Hi @hopefulfuturenurse21 ! OMG I cannot remember the exact essay prompt. It was something along the lines of what do I promise to do as a future nurse. I'm sorry I can't remember the exact prompt! I think they gave us 45 minutes to complete it and we weren't given a length requirement

@Ant129 is the program really 15 months long? I’m just worried about covid if there’s a possibility that it could prolong it. Thank you!

Hi @K.quino16! Yes it is. Technically it's almost 17 months, bcuz you have to take 2 theology courses before your nursing courses begin. The 2 theology courses are online for 7 weeks (you don't meet on zoom for these classes; you just complete your weekly readings and assignments). Then you start your nursing courses, which are foundations and health assessment. I hope that makes sense!

@Ant129 Hello! I wanted to say thank you so much for all the info about interviews. Is the 45 minutes we're given for the essay included in the 5 hour interview? Also, how many people did you have to interview with? I'm a bit overwhelmed seeing that it's 5 hours long.

After confirming your acceptance for the interview, do they send you a confirmation email indicating that your interview spot is confirmed?
