Concorde in Jacksonville?

U.S.A. Florida

I tried to do a search and there doesnt seem to be anyone that has gone to the nursing program at Concorde in Jacksonville. I was accepted into their Spetember class with the option of starting later this month if sopts become available. I know there are Concordes in other cities but Im sure that every city has different experiences. Any comments, good or bad, would be appreciated.

Thanks for the info. I did actually talk to someone at Keiser and they, too tried to get me to take another program while waiting for the RN program. The problem with Keiser is that the Jan 2010 start is already filled and I'd have to wait even longer to start. Also Keiser had a mandatory interview process to become eligable for acceptance which I thought was weird. Another thing that I like about Concorde is that all they do is medical training, and they've been reputable for years.

Huh, I didn't know that Keiser had that "procedure" also. It is interesting, all a money making scheme, I guess. One thing I can say it I have read on here that people were on waiting lists for Keiser and then they got called for an earlier class so they started much earlier than they had anticipated. That is actually what happend to me with Sanford Brown, they had a couple of students drop right at the beginning so they called me and asked if I wanted to start now and I said "OH YEAH!" the wait is over!:yeah:I do think it is wierd that these schools, or at least Sanford, want you to have medical experience before the nursing program. Why should it make any difference to them what your experience is, as long as you are paying for it? That is why I think it is an attempt to keep you interested until a spot actually opens. Who knows? One day we will be great nurses and where we went to school really won't matter.

I went to Sanford Brown today. Since I don't have any "hands on" medical experience ( even though I went for Medical Assisting in 2005) I would have to take one of their programs in order to get into there nursing program. So I had to choose from Medical billing and coding which is a snore, or take Medical assisting ALL OVER agian. I don't really understand their process. They said that it would be like I am taking pre-reqs for 9 mths. But I dont want to pay 13,000 to become a MA (again) then pay 30,000 for their RN program. That's 43,000! They said they may be able to accept some of my MA credits. Now if they could do that then I may be willing to go there but to do the MA course all over again w/o a PROMISED seat in the RN program is a bit of a risk. I went to Keiser but I failed the NET test the first time and I retake it agian on Tuesday, But I wouldn't be able to start their RN program til September 2010 whereas w/ Sanford Brown I would Finish the MA program in March 2010 and start the RN program in June 2010. I would start the RN program sooner at Sanford Brown but I would pay less at Keiser. Any opinions?? PLEASE!!

I went to Concorde in Jax in 06/07 and there is not a 100% acceptance rate. Out of 30 students to start with me only 17 graduated. the cost very high, and if you look and your itemized cost sheet it seems like they're riping you off. A couple of the instructors are below average, if I could do all again I'd go to FCCJ. I have a very good job at a hospital making about $50k but i still have a large student loan c/o Concorde.

Hey "mwarren" did you start concorde in May of 2007? Was it for the LPN program? if so we were in class together.LOL!

It does not make sense to do the whole MA program again. If they would give you the credits, I agree it is not so bad. First, I would ask to discuss this with the president of Sanford Brown, I think he would see it from your point of view. But, if that doesn't work I would go with the school that is going to make me a nurse the fastest! I went to visit Keiser last year and it was around 45,000. I decided against it because it was so much money and at that time I was already taking prereqs for SJRCC, so I decided to stay on that track. By the way, at that time I was in Sanford Brown's MA program. They were not even talking of doing an RN program yet, but I knew very shortly after I started MA school that I wanted to be a nurse. Things got a little crazy with work and my plans (I needed microbiology and SJRCC only offered it on weekdays which interfered with work. FCCJ had more prereqs just to take micro) changed a few times in the mean time and then Sanford Brown started the program so I decided to go there because I would be done faster than I would at a community college at that point because I could start "now". Have you taken the NLN exam for Sanford Brown? I don't know if this makes sense because I have so many thoughts at once! Good luck in your decision!

Well I decided to go to Sanford Brown if I don't pass the NET for Keiser on Tuesday. They said that they didn't have a problem with taking my credits but ALL of my classes were only 2 credit hours and all of their MA classes are 4 credit hours so that mean that the other school didn't spend as much time on the subjects as they would like SOOOO they can't take them! :banghead: So this is my plan: I am going to start Sanford Brown on Monday for the MA, go there on Tuesday but leave a lil early to go and take the NET for Keiser. If I pass I will just simply call SB and let them know that I passed and I won't be returning. Then I will just wait to start Keiser in May. Now if I don't pass then I will just continue going to SB. On the up side I would start SB RN program in June of 2010 but I would'nt start Keisers actual RN progran until September 2010. I would only take the pre-reqs in May. So I will be a nurse faster with SB but Keiser is cheaper. I don't even care anymore. I just want to be a RN dang it! I don't care what I have to do to be one I just want to be one! Any opinions????? Thanx!

just wanted to give a "concorde" update..went to a meet and greet yesterday..was a little disappointed that they changed a few things such as the first term is suppose to be 8-12 it's now 8-12:30 and on thurs. 8-2:30 because it includes a lab they never mentioned...i know this isn't a big change but when you have a job it can be...other than that, i felt good about the program and i'm very excited...have orientation next thurs then start school on the 27th...can't wait!

If you don't have your prereqs, why don't you start taking them at FCCJ or SJRCC and apply to one of those programs, it is so much cheaper. And you could be done with your prereqs in 3-4 (MAX) semesters going full time (SJRCC) and then apply to community college. While I was going to SB for MA I took 3 classes per semester for 2 semesters and then I started a job so I cut back to 2/semester. That is when I hit the micro snag at SJRCC (only offered weekdays and I worked Mon-Fri) so I did not finish prereqs. Otherwise I would be starting with my friends there on May 11, only 6,000 for tuition! I know I would have been accepted because I had all A's and my points were high. Oh well...I am happy with my choice, it is just knowing how much more I am spending:bugeyes:

I thought the Concorde program was from 8-5?

*the first term will be pretty much 8-12:30 except thurs. we have lab for 2hrs.

*the second term gen. ed. will be 8-2 except thurs. and we're suppose to

have 2 clinical days per wk. and they will start at 6:30am til ?

*terms 3-6 will be mostly 8-5 except when you have clinicals which can be up to 5 days wk.

in the last 2 terms.

*each term is 10 wks. and we do one subject per day.

as i find out more or if things change, i will keep everyone posted.

Well everyone I took my test agian today at Keiser and I didn't pass it. But I did do way better than I did the first time. I started class at Sanford Brown Monday and I like it my teacher is very nice and he keeps control of his class! we have a "no it all" student in there and he let's him know up front that he needs to shut up and let the other students learn ( not in those words though) but I like it and I also prayed about it and I felt as though if I didn't pass the NET at Keiser then it was meant for me to go to Sanford Brown. I am happy. I am going to buckle down and do the best I can so that I can be prepared for the RN program in June 2010!

Congratulations on your choice. I am like you, if I prayed about something and there is a roadblock then I know that I need to go in the other direction. Good luck with everything. Are you in the day or evening MA class?
