Hi everyone, I'm starting this thread so we can share information about the CAS, the program we should pass in order to gain registration in Queensland, Australia. I have passed all four components of the CAS challenge test and it can be done with hard work and a lot of prayer, you do not really need agencies for this. For starters, the challenge test is a 70 item test with multiple choice questions, occasionally with identification items also.

yes true...you might just have the first module first and after completing it, you can now asses yourself if you can handle the 2 remaining modules at the same time. but then, you can complete them one by one.... :)

joeturtle, did you took the test b or the clinical module?

can you give us a sample question (not necessarilly the question that you have encountered) of the test exam? just for us to know on how they formulate exam questions...thanks.:up:

Just look at NCLEX reviewers and that's it. The exam was very similar to NCLEX, especially the 4th part which is on clinicals. I will be taking the Part B one day challenge test this summer. I really hope someone will post their experience with this exam in this forum so I will have some idea on what to expect.

hi joeturtle, i just want to ask how you paid for your challenge test? i prefer to pay though credit card but the application form provided for CAS doesn't ask for any details for credit card payment. i hate to waste money on postage by mailing incomplete application details. i'd appreciate it if you could answer my query.

You're right, there is no credit card form in the CAS application. In my case, they asked for my credit card details when they received the application form. I gave them the details through email, although you can also do so by phone.

if the QNC will approved your application, they will send you an enrolment form that you yourself will have to fill up and send it to CAS-CQU...and then once CAS received it they will organize the exam schedule and location for you...

To add, CAS is administered by CQUniversity in Rockhampton, Queensland and they do not have an office in the Philippines but you can take the exam in the testing centers in Makati or Davao.

CAS-CQU on ly have two testing centers in the Philippines davao and makati?

test b -> which summer? philippine summer or australian summer?

how long will it take for the CQU-CAS to schedule the test b?

@ryan09 -- I emailed cqu-cas and they replied that currently they only have davao and makati. who knows, when we begin our application now, several months from now, they'll open more testing centers. although they did say they tried in cebu before, but failed (didn't state what happened.)

I'm happy about their response time. When I emailed California BON, they never replied back to me. :crying2:

hi joeturtle! thank you for being so helpful about the CAS program. I would like to ask you how long it took to you to process your application to the QNC for the two part challenge test? You just did self review? You didn't attend any review classes anymore? I want to apply for this on my own seeing that the prices charged by the agencies are really very high. I just graduated last October and I just passed the board exam. I don't want to waste anymore time. Are the books you suggested sufficient preparation for the exam? Thank you so much!!!

I received my Offer Letter from the Australian Catholic Univercity (ACU) National. Instead of the 1 year Nursing Bridging Program, it granted me a 2-Year Nursing course. It costs about AU$33,000. I dont know if Im gonna accept it. Im tired now of starting back to zero.

Hi there, QNC application is quite fast, they generally do it in about 3 weeks. In my case it was the processing with PRC that took a long time, along with the IELTS test also. So I suggest you hurdle the IELTS requirement first. In all, it took me 6 months from the time I submitted my application to QNC to passing the CAS exam. I did not attend any review class and it can be done with the references shared in this forum. You really do not need agencies to get licensed in Queensland. I wish you well i your undertaking.

I'm not aware of your circumstances but if you are already a registered nurse, then you should not study nursing again. If you are interested in Queensland, then go for the CAS.:twocents:

Did they say why they offered you the 2 year nursing course seeing as you have already done your training? there must have been some issues with your transcripts

goodluck joeturtle on your next journey, it must be tough but i believe you can do it. you made it with the challenge test part a, certainly you will surpass the part b too.
