Columbia University School of Nursing - Masters Direct Entry (MDE) / DNP 2024

Published

Hello everyone! This thread is for folks applying to Columbia's MDE/DNP program for 2024! Good luck :)!

Today might be the day!  I have a feeling I was provided incorrect information from admissions. I'm a POST/BSN applicant for the DNP program only. They claim we will all find out at the same time as the MDE/DNPs... From previous years threads it seems we find out a couple weeks after the MDE/DNP applicants do, which never made sense considering they already know how many seats they have currently available for the upcoming DNP cycle.  We shall see I guess.

I am just going to go in with the mindset decisions will be out feb 14th at 11:59pm LOL just to not get my hopes up.

Does anyone know how many seats they typically offer for MDE and Post-BS DNP?

I am also wondering how many seats are offered for the MDE/DNP

Would be helpful if one of the post/BSN applicants called today to confirm, to confirm that we would be hearing the at the same time the MDE/DNP applicants do.  Thats what I was told yesterday. It did not seem accurate based on previous years. But maybe it's changed? I am not sure of the seats offered for MDE versus the Post BSN DNP seats. I know the MDE is significantly larger.

I called to double check. Apparently post BSN applicants will hear the decision at the same time the MDE students will....

Hi all! Wishing everyone good luck!

Had a quick question- if admissions doesn't send out decisions today- I'm assuming it will wait till next week? Or is it possible they would send decisions out throughout the weekend?

MDE/DNP

Did I read this right? Is this the annual cost of Columbia MDE/DNP?

Listed below are the estimated costs (USD) for the first year of the program. The University applies a conservative and modest estimate of indirect expenses, based on average costs. Direct costs include tuition, university fees, and health insurance. Indirect costs include food and housing, books and supplies, transportation, and personal expenses.

Projected increases in tuition are determined by the Board of Trustees of Columbia University in June. Billed expenses are subject to change without prior notice. Changes to a student's program or course load may result in additional tuition charges and fees.

Tuition*: $95,964

University Fees: $3,133

Health Insurance: $5,600

Loan Fees: $2,738

Food and Housing: $35,640

Books and Supplies: $2,952

Transportation: $1,524

Personal Expenses: $5,280

Total Estimated Cost: $152,831

*Full-time flat rate fee for first three terms of the program (Summer, Fall, Spring).

This is what I read on the website. I have not contacted the college directly. But these expenses are 'out of this world'. But they get a lot of applicants. And as an RN you still make the same hourly rate as someone who went to a local BSN program. I guess they are paying more to jump the staff RN job and become an NP DNP. For these prices, become a Physician Assistant (just my opinion)
