Hi everyone!
First of all, I would like to congratulate everyone who has been accepted into the next starting cohort for this program!
I am starting this super early because I have already begun to freak out lol.
Is anyone applying for the MDE MDE/DNP or MDE/PHD program for 2017?
This is my dream program !!
I am prepping for the GRE at this point which I am taking in August. It has been a long arduous road for me to say the least and I am ready to send my app off with a prayer. Any advice from current/previous students of this program or applicants welcome! And to my fellow applicants what other programs are you applying to? And most importantly good luck to everyone. The application opens August of 2016

I'm sure they've just started now, it's early in the week right after our priority applications were due. They have plenty of time...haha.
On the other hand, I'm extremely curious about how a cohort takes shape. They say priority applicants will be read first to 'set the bar.' But I would imagine that it's not like they would lock us in as members of the cohort, especially since decisions are so far out. Intriguing process too because it's not really rolling admissions either.
They just confirmed that my app has also passed the initial review, so this is an important lesson in not panicking unnecessarily. I will probably be a bundle of nerves by February.
As for the cohort, I doubt that app timing will be a factor. I would imagine you would want to mix the extreme panicking early app people with the relaxed last minute app people so that the group ends up with a nice mid-range level of anxiety prevailing. :)

I wish I knew more about this too. When I attended the info session last January, the admissions director said that the MDE-only application deadline was later than the MDE-DNP deadline, and they had lots more people just apply to the MDE program. He said something to the effect of he thought it was because people figured they could just apply to the DNP portion internally. It came across as him wishing people had submitted their applications earlier and not at the last minute.
So the cynical side of me wonders if the whole "priority" deadline thing is just a way to get applications in ASAP.
As to whether your score is a problem or not, I think that's been covered on this board many times already.
As to the logistics of your question: You don't have time this app cycle, you can only retake once a month (some specific number of days in between exams). Even if you can retake, do you have a plan to improve and time to implement?
*That is to say, I don't think it's worth your trouble to retake.
Larakg thanks for your response!
I know it's not logistically possible this cycle, but just wondering if I should keep studying and retake in a few months in case I don't get in this cohort. It would just be so much easier to keep going now than to relearn everything again this time next year.
I'm going to think on it! Thanks for the advice that it may not be worth my trouble to retake!
Hey everyone! I'm kind of in the middle of a crisis right now. My last recommender surprised me today by falling through and I do not think she will be sending it unfortunately..I have one week to get a new letter written and uploaded. Who did you all ask to recommend you? The only person I can think of is my current supervisor but I work at a childcare center..not exactly that relevant to nursing. Any advice?

My recommenders from my last application cycle were professors and a supervisor. My supervisor was from a marketing job where I was a proofreader - hardly nursing-related. But I was accepted based on those recommendation letters, so don't be concerned about your supervisor not being in the healthcare field.
Thank you so much! I reached out to her so I'm hoping to hear back tomorrow. It's just a nice little unexpected stressor to experience this week!! I was lucky that she only didn't send in her letter to two schools that I applied for, one of which was able to upload the letter based on the forwarded email I sent them. Fingers crossed my supervisor says yes! She is very sweet but only one week notice is kind of crazy!

Have others received the initial review confirmation? I submitted back in August and don't recall receiving one. Wondering if I should check in with the office or if they're just starting that process now.
