Hi everyone!
First of all, I would like to congratulate everyone who has been accepted into the next starting cohort for this program!
I am starting this super early because I have already begun to freak out lol.
Is anyone applying for the MDE MDE/DNP or MDE/PHD program for 2017?
This is my dream program !!
I am prepping for the GRE at this point which I am taking in August. It has been a long arduous road for me to say the least and I am ready to send my app off with a prayer. Any advice from current/previous students of this program or applicants welcome! And to my fellow applicants what other programs are you applying to? And most importantly good luck to everyone. The application opens August of 2016

Hi Everyone,
Question. Do you think the less prerequisites you have completed the less chance you have to be accepted?
I only have 2-3 done at the moment depending on if they'll accept a transfer credit.
I graduate in December though so am all set to complete all the necessary prerequisites by May.
What do you all think?
I had a similar problem. What I did was send weekly reminders and on the last week I reminded them 2 times and it worked. But, I had a good relationship with that recommender. When I was having that issue with a professor, I sent weekly emails, and then just trusted that he would do it, and he did.
Thanks for sharing what you did. I think I'll send a reminder on Monday, and then every Monday until the Monday October 17th deadline. I want a rec from this prof; I don't want to seek anyone else out. We have a good relationship, so I think she's just showing her true procrastinator side.

The admissions people told me that since I didn't have a science background, it would be helpful for me to complete as many science pre-reqs as possible, so they can see I'm capable of science-ing. As far as the others, they probably don't care as much, so long as your academic record shows that you can handle the coursework. I have two sciences completed (one was just plain biology, and not a pre-req), and will finish Anatomy next month and then update my transcript and application info with Columbia. Physiology will happen in the spring.
I will say, I'm taking Anatomy online right now through Johns Hopkins, and ooooooooohhhhh my.... There is SO.MUCH.BUSYWORK. It's a condensed academic period: 10 weeks, so there's a lot of material to cover. I'm working full time, and it is taking up almost all my free time. It's very well organized though. Great to be able to take it online!

Thanks so much! Yes I have regular bio as well, but the rest of my science-y courses are all psych related, so I'm not sure if that counts as hard science. Although, perhaps it will be helpful since I'm applying for the psych specialty. I did take Statistics though as well.
I'm looking into the University of Rochester's online nursing prerequisites!
Hey guys. I haven't posted here in a while but I have been keeping up with all of your guys' posts. I was feeling very discouraged because of my undergrad gpa, but I just took the GRE two days ago and scored a 317. I am STOKED! I really hope that helps offset my low gpa. However, I'm worried about recommendations. I had two professors agree to write me letters, and one I know is for sure on top of it, but the other hasn't responded to my emails in weeks and I'm worried she won't make the deadline. I've emailed her twice this past week and if I email her a third time I'm afraid I'll just annoy her! Any advice? It's far too late to ask any other professors for recommendations because the deadline is only two weeks away. I'm so stressed!
It does make me nervous to think that I'll never really know what my recommenders wrote, but I suppose that's why it's important to ask them and know them well enough to ask if they'll write a good recommendation
Just got an email from Columbia notifying me I passed the initial review stage and onto the Adcoms (I have everything submitted)!
Best of luck to all as we wait
@ AquamarineHealing when did you submit your application? Are you still considered for "priority" if you application has been submitted before October 1, but your gre scores wont be in for another few days?
I had my recommendations and GRE score in early, I only submitted the day before the deadline.
Here is what they wrote in a prior email they sent out:
If I submit by the priority deadline, what materials do I need to include in my application? You must submit all application items except for your GRE scores, letters of recommendation, and pre-requisites: You must sit for the GRE by October 17 and have your official scores sent to our office; Your recommenders must upload their letters by October 17; Your pre-requisite courses must be completed by May 31, 2017.

Hey WhaleThen thanks for coming around!
I'm new to the forum and I'm applying to some schools in Boston as well (MGH, Regis, UMass Worchester) and I'm wondering what sold you on Columbia, as I've heard they are one of the pricier Direct-Entry programs out there.
The DNP is a huge draw for me, but I'm wondering whether it would be worth the cost and relocation.
Thanks :)
