Columbia University MDE 2017

Published

Hi everyone!

First of all, I would like to congratulate everyone who has been accepted into the next starting cohort for this program! :D

I am starting this super early because I have already begun to freak out lol.

Is anyone applying for the MDE MDE/DNP or MDE/PHD program for 2017?

This is my dream program !!

I am prepping for the GRE at this point which I am taking in August. It has been a long arduous road for me to say the least and I am ready to send my app off with a prayer. Any advice from current/previous students of this program or applicants welcome! And to my fellow applicants what other programs are you applying to? And most importantly good luck to everyone. The application opens August of 2016 :D

Anyone know what Columbia thinks about re-taking pre-reqs? I took Human Phys 1 and 2 (quarter system) as an undergrad but I'm retaking Human Phys right now at CC because I needed the lab component for most programs. Feeling really good so far this semester and I'm wondering if I should provide them with my grades for my previous Human Phys 1 and 2 courses or wait and give them my grade at the end of this semester.

I think we are required to submit all transcripts for college work, right? So by that token you have to submit those scores.

There is a section in the application to write additional information pertaining to your academics, so you can describe your situation there, and then submit your new score when the class is complete.

I just got my email saying my application is marked as complete and has been passed to the admissions committee. It also said they would soon be sending information on how to send grades for completed coursework.

Everyone! It's October 17th! The final deadline for applications! May the admissions staff look favorably on each of us over the next four months. Did any of you apply to other programs also?

The deadline was extended ! To Friday the 21st at noon EST.

I ended up getting into Johns Hopkins. Waiting for financial aid. If it's not enough I'll be pressing that submit button on Friday. But Hopkins seems like the best fit for me now. Good luck everyone. I hope you all get accepted to a school you love ! And if not this year maybe next never give up ! ❤️

What!?! That's so crazy the deadline was extended. I'm still waiting for my early application to make its way through the first few hoops.

For everyone who applied before the priority deadline: how long did it take to receive the email saying you passed the initial review from the time you submitted the full app? I submitted my app September 30th and haven't heard back. Worrying a little!

What in the world?! I wonder if they extended that deadline because they didn't receive enough applications.. How do you know this by the way? Did they send out an email to the people who hadn't submitted their application yet? I went on their website and the deadline still says October 17th.

I received the initial review email exactly 2 weeks after. I would think they got a huge influx of applications that day so it would probably take a bit longer to note as complete, it should be any day now!

I submitted my application on September 13 and received the email on September 30.

I am also curious to know where it is listed that the deadline has been extended. I, too, only see the Oct 17 deadline still listed on their site.

This email I got !

Also to people worrying about their app being marked as at a different stage than everyone else I wouldn't fret. I went to an open house a few weeks ago through the consortium and Columbia was there. The Columbia rep explained the process they use and he mentioned that the admissions counselors put the applications together then pass them off to faculty for actual reviewing in the midst of other duties. Perhaps some are reviewing at different rates than others or haven't gotten around to viewing at all. Stay positive.
