Hi everyone!
First of all, I would like to congratulate everyone who has been accepted into the next starting cohort for this program!
I am starting this super early because I have already begun to freak out lol.
Is anyone applying for the MDE MDE/DNP or MDE/PHD program for 2017?
This is my dream program !!
I am prepping for the GRE at this point which I am taking in August. It has been a long arduous road for me to say the least and I am ready to send my app off with a prayer. Any advice from current/previous students of this program or applicants welcome! And to my fellow applicants what other programs are you applying to? And most importantly good luck to everyone. The application opens August of 2016

I graduated with BS in Respiratory Therapy in 2015 with 4.0 GPA. I currently work in the ICU and ER. During my undergraduate years I worked as a peer tutor and research assistant for about 2yrs. I have two published abstracts that I presented at international congress. I have lots of volunteer works in underserved communities and leadership positions within the school of health professions at my university. Also a few honors and awards. But yeah, I bumped the GRE. Scored 145 and 147. So I hope they overlook my score and consider me. Fingers crossed for all of us.
I am sure that the Admissions have a way to see passion in applicants. I have seen people get accepted even before they graduate. Your stats are great and I hope that we all get in.
Good luck! I'm working relentlessly on mine!Do you mind sharing your stats? GRE, GPA, work history, etc.?
Also, what do you think Columbia thinks about complete career changers? I'm coming from the Communications/Media/Journalism industry so have little relevant work experience in nursing, but this is something I have been passionate about and wanting to pursue for a long time now.

I hope so! Your story seems like exactly the reason why numbers are only part of the equation. Good luck to you!
I dreamed last night about that darn video essay (I've already done it, and submitted my application weeks ago). In my dream I had major technology issues and had to send an email asking if I could just record something with my iPhone and email it in. Sheesh...the stress dreams have already begun?
RT_2b_NP Wow! You have an amazing resume and stats! You are a shoe-in I'm sure! I would not let those GRE scores worry you at all. I'm only worried about mine because I don't have the other credentials that you do! Congrats on everything and good luck, I hope we all get to meet come June!
raellagr Phew! That's good news!
agirlhasnoname Agreed! I am already starting to have dreams as well. I guess that means we're passionate, right?! Haha!
DivaliciousMe85 that's amazing! Congrats to you.Can I ask why you decided not to go 2 years ago, and what changed your mind now?
I had actually accepted their decision and paid the deposit. I went to accepted students day and fell even more in love with the program. Literally the day after accepted students day I received acceptance to law school. A law school that accepted me into an accelerated program and that was right down the road from where I live. After talking it over with my husband we decided the best thing financially was to do law school. Needless to say I withdrew from law school halfway through. It is NOT for me.
I need to be hands on with my clients. I thought I could change the world as a lawyer (in mental health policy) but I realized I want to be on the front lines and if I can only change 1 life as a mental health specialist, that's worth it for me. The last 2 years, I have regretted turning Columbia down every single day. I told my husband I don't care about the money. I want this. So I'm back at it lol.
Also, I must say that when I was accepted they were still doing the ETP program. The first year was an undergrad year and then the rest was a master's portion. It was their last year for that program. I'm happy they changed it to master's and doctorate.
Hello everybody! I am also applying to the MDE/DNP program for Fall 2017. I recently went to an open house held in Boston and I am even more excited for the program. I was reading a lot of the comments and people seemed to be worried about the GREs! Trust me guys, the GRE's aren't too bad!!! Don't worry too much (:
Hi. Did they say anything specific in regards to GRE scores. Mine is 292 combined. It is very low. Arrrghh!! I am so restless.
