Columbia University-ETP

Published

Hey everyone. I was just wondering who applied to Columbia University's ETP program.

I got an email today telling me to keep logging into the website where I applied to check on the status of my application. Has anyone else got this email? And does anyone know approximately when they begin to post decisions?

I'm nervous as this was my #2 school.

Sounds familiar. I don't think I'll get into Columbia so I'll be probably end up looking at two year programs.

Well... I've also been having a hard time surrendering to the uncertainty of my fate these last few days, but had this thought today that has alleviated some of the miserable feelings and churnings in my brain - maybe it'll help some of you, too.

Assuming we're all capable and dedicated to nursing and to our field in particular, it's up to Columbia (and all of the other schools that we've applied to) to decide who's best fit to enter the program this year. And if we're so sure about ourselves and our readiness, but we're rejected - just think of how qualified and able the accepted applicants must be. Either way, the field we care about will be gaining passionate, hard-working new clinicians in this round of students, and that's what it's all about in the end. Of course we hope that we're the ones who are in this next cohort, but even if we're not, it's all for the good of health care. We all probably have more years ahead of us to try it again, meaning yet another generation of capable caregivers to come.

Also - how cool is it to care this much about something that it's even powerful enough to stress us? Some people go through life never really finding something they're passionate about, so that's huge in and of itself!

Hope that doesn't sound too pollyanna of me, but it really seems to make sense (to me, at least).

Anyway, good luck to all who have interviews this week! And to the rest, keep breathing! :)

I've had some really nice moments over the past few days when I realize that I've been so involved in something else that I've completely forgotten that most of me is still stressed

(i.e. something came over me the past two days and I now have a spotless room...at least something positive has come out of the waiting thus far)

Hoping for all of our sakes that we find out in a timely manner!

Good luck all!

I GOT IN!!!!! OMG!!! I don't know what to think, it's not sinking in.... ***, i got into COLUMBIA?!!!

SAME HERE AND I"m FREAKING OUT!!!! I really didn't think there was any way I was getting in! OMG OMG OMG!!!!!

Congratulations. You are deserve it. A great sigh of relief!

Are they posting decisions in batches? I haven't heard anything yet. Did you get an email notifying you?

I actually just randomly checked and there was a link on the bottom of the page, but I got the email like 5 minutes later. Good luck to everyone else waiting!

I'm in at Columbia!

Specializes in Nurse-midwifery.

I GOT IN TOO!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! To the dual specialty in midwifery and women's health.

Jalin2009, I got the email about 20 minutes ago, and it said to go the application page and click on "Your application decision is now available online."

WOO-HOO!!

I'm in for FNP! Not for sure on whether or not I'm going, but all worry about all that pro/con stuff later - for tonight, I'm celebrating!

Congrats to everyone else who got in and condolences to those who didn't.

oh my god, i just realized i have MAJOR problem. The program starts on May 27, but I still have to finish Anatomy and Micro and my classes don't finish until the first week of June. What should I do? Does anyone know of any schools in the LA or surrounding areas that I can still enrol in those classes that will be done before the end of May? Ahhhh I can't let this hold me back from going!

i'm still waiting and nothing yet :(
