Columbia University-ETP

Published

Hey everyone. I was just wondering who applied to Columbia University's ETP program.

I got an email today telling me to keep logging into the website where I applied to check on the status of my application. Has anyone else got this email? And does anyone know approximately when they begin to post decisions?

I'm nervous as this was my #2 school.

true but not every program has a reputation for being disorganized and poorly run. i think it has to do more with the large class size combined with the fact that there is a shortage of nursing faculty throughout the country....(?)

jnd, I agree. It's not like they can get organized like other fields like History or Biology because they have plenty of those teachers. I wouldn't mind teaching once I become a nurse.

To all my fellow West-coasters, where are you guys from? Anyone in the LA area? Flights on Jetblue out of Long Beach are pretty cheap if you're looking for visit day. Does anyone else have pre-reqs to finish this semester? I have to finish Anatomy and Micro, but I took Bacteriology at my school so I might ask Jose if that'll satisfy the Micro requirement since that's all my school had.

Did more decisions go out today?

Tracyie/Moxie/ZooGirl,

I'll be flying out of SF on Thursday, and am checking Kayak.com for deals.

Moxie,

Just to clarify, Columbia's medical campus is more towards the Bronx than Harlem (you might be thinking of the main campus..). It's faaar up at the tip-top of Manhattan, but still on the island proper. :)

Future classmates! (it's so exciting to be able to say that!)

I'm so jealous that you all get to go to visiting day. I won't be able to go due to a previous engagement I have at Northwestern U. (where I'm currently an undergrad)...do any of you know how long the day's events are supposed to last?

According to Jose, Visiting Day will last from approximately 10am - 2pm (that's how long it was last year and how long it's projected to be this year).

wow...thanks! maybe I'll be able to come (though it seems kind of crazy to come in the morning and leave at 4!)

Thanks for the heads up fionagurl! I'm in SF too! I will solidify my plans this weekend for Visiting Day.

Has anyone out there figured out the finances? This is all I know so far:

M.S. Clinical Courses $1,374/point

M.S., All Others $1,084/point

I know the first year is about 60 units! And we haven't even talked about the cost of books, housing, etc. I'm quite terrified to see the financial aid packet. With this price tag, I have great expectations for the entire academic experience. I must say, except for the decision letter hiccup, the admission process has been very smooth with this school.

I'm also from the SF Bay Area. I'm still debating whether or not to go to visiting day. I'm waiting on a decision from UCSF, and if I get in, I won't be going to Columbia.

When I went to the open house they said the program in total cost $125k...and its only 2.5 yrs. Seems a bit steep

Is anyone not from the east or west coast? San Antonio, TX here.

125K? That's less than what I thought it would be originally but still... that's the down on a house. What am I doing?!?!?
