Columbia School of Nursing MDE 2018

Published

Hi AN fellows!

I know it is super early to start such a thread but I was hopping to connect with potential applicants/classmates for Columbia SON MDE 2018 program!

If you are applying to Columbia SON for summer 2018, let's share our experiences, ideas, thoughts and such!

Looking forward to hearing from some of you!

I was kind of annoyed I stammered on the video essay!

However, glad everything is over with and submitted!

Good luck to everyone!

hey all! just wanted an opinion. I'm submitting my app today and saved the video essay/timed writing for last. I see that the prompt is about overcoming an obstacle...a large portion of my essay is dedicated to this -- it's honestly a driving force that led me to nursing. Should I talk about this obstacle again in my video essay or should I switch gears and talk about something else?

I would talk about something else. I think all these different things(the video essay, times writing, personal statement, resume etc..) are to see different sides of yourself since their application review process is holistic and all. this is my opinion though, in the end its up to you.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to clarify that if my undergrad GPA is above 3.25, I input the date I received my degree into the GRE date box and "0"s for the score values in order to opt out of the GRE? Thanks!!

hey, future AGPCNP i had the same question, so I went into the admissions office yesterday. She said it's okay to put 0's for everything. You just have to put the test date as the deadline date.

Thank you for the info! :) Columbia only accepts 20 students for the MDE/DNP programs? I had thought the number was higher

When I went to an open house they mentioned that about 700-800 apply and there is a 200 student cohort. So I think they might accept a little close to 300? That is only an estimate based on the stats they gave!

Nice! That's what I did. Thanks so much : )

Good luck to everyone applying! Trust the process!:)

Curious to know, did anyone apply to any of the dnp programs? Part of me wishes I did, but I honestly don't know what specialty I would want to get into.

hi @soydelmonte! i actually did apply for the MDE/DNP and chose the FNP route

I applied for pediatrics!

Hey guys!

I applied priority MDE/DNP (FNP) and just received my email that my application was complete and is moving onto the faculty admission evaluation. Best of luck to everybody on here and I hope to be sharing good news with you come February!
