Hi AN fellows!
I know it is super early to start such a thread but I was hopping to connect with potential applicants/classmates for Columbia SON MDE 2018 program!
If you are applying to Columbia SON for summer 2018, let's share our experiences, ideas, thoughts and such!
Looking forward to hearing from some of you!
Hey Vee112,
My friend was in the same position as you last year. He has AP2 in progress and had YET to take nutrition and micro in the upcoming semester.
He STILL got in (without even being wait listed), even though he was missing two of his grades before they accepted him.
He had a super fierce personal statement, which I think is what really made him stand out.
The only reason why I didn't apply the same time he did was because I was nervous about not finishing my pre-requistes on time before the application date (I would have before the start of the program). I don't regret it. I felt like I wasn't prepared. But who knows if I would have gotten in or not. I know that this year everything is set in order and I have a lot more to offer. Trust your gut!
mma22664; Thank you so much for this information. Extremely appreciated as I was a bit nervous. Is the topic a general one in regards to nursing and healthcare? Also, how much time do you get between the end of the video recording and starting the timed essay? Did you get more than one attempt for the video recording? Hope everything went smoothly for you! :)
mm2264; Thanks so much for the info and the words of encouragement.
Also, in response to your question, I had attended a virtual open house last week. The Columbia counselor said that about 200 students get accepted and about 178 of them are accepted into the the MDE portion only (as opposed to the DNP/PHD) Hope this helps. :)

Columbia gives you the question to the video essay beforehand, so this is something you can prepare for :) The prompt is: Please tell us about a time that you have overcome an obstacle in your life, how you dealt with it, and what you learned from the experience.
