Columbia Post-BSN DNP ( June 2021)

Updated:   Published

Hey guys! Thought I'd start a thread for Columbia DNP hopefuls. I applied for the June 2021 cycle for the AG-ACNP specialty. Would love to hear from others while waiting for decisions!

Hi! First-time poster here. I was accepted to the AG-ACNP program. I heard that all didactic classes will be virtual, so that sounds like the whole Summer. I’m wondering if decisions for other specialties haven’t been released yet?

I applied internally (from the MDE program) to the FNP program. Still haven't heard anything...

I haven't. Is the portal where you can view and submit material and also view your application checklist? or is it another site. I applied to midwifery.

Oh, yay! I also applied to midwifery, so maybe this means they haven’t released their decisions yet. And yes, I believe that’s the portal where a decision will be posted (eventually, haha). Hopefully we both get in!

If all classes are virtual for first semester, Does this mean we don’t need to necessary be in new York this Summer for classes?

That’s what I was wondering too. I’m hoping they’ll send an email soon saying if we need to be there in person at all for the Summer but from what it sounds like, it’ll be online until the fall.
Can’t wait to meet you all in person hopefully sometime soon though!

Is anyone going to work full-time this Summer when starting the program? Trying to decide if I should go ahead and go per diem/part time.

Yes you can defer your program till next year. I deferred mine from 2020.

Congratulations to everyone btw!! We should make a facebook group to be able to connect to one another!

I think it might be in person seems they have been having in person classes for students

How do we defer to next year?? Do we have to email and request that?

I emailed and they responded saying that they usually don't (only for med or military) and that it is case-by-case!

so they don't offer part-time or deferment basically! but you can always try? ?

Okay thanks! And Did anyone find out for sure by emailing them if classes will be online or in person first semester?

Specializes in Oncology.

I emailed them yesterday and they said didactic classes are online but simulations and clinicals are in person. Do we only have lectures this Summer?

struggling because Columbia is a great school and have had amazing communications with everybody thus far...it's just the cost! anybody else struggling with the thought of paying soooo much? LOL
