Columbia Post-BSN DNP ( June 2021)

Updated:   Published

Hey guys! Thought I'd start a thread for Columbia DNP hopefuls. I applied for the June 2021 cycle for the AG-ACNP specialty. Would love to hear from others while waiting for decisions!

Hi All,

I am going to apply to the BS-DNP PMHNP program for 2022.

The amount of required materials including personal statements, essays etc. is really overwhelming and I am super worried about the video essays and written essay part since it will be happening live!!

I did some research and there was 1 video essay question in 2018 but now 2 essays...

Could anyone here kindly share what kind of questions were asked in 2021?

Please HELP...

Hey Yoonsung!

The application process was very tedious so I totally understand where you are coming from. Besides the 2 written essays that you have to write, there were 2 timed essays for the application. One was a timed video essay that you had 2 min to respond and the other was a timed written essay where you had 10 min to respond. I remembered the timed essays were not terrible at all. For the timed video essay, they already gave you the prompt ahead of time so you can take your time to draft it before you record yourself. For the written essay, they give you 2 min to read the prompt and draft up what you want to write for your essay. I remember the essay being super simple like what’s your favorite hobby. Not sure what it will be like this year, but you’ll be fine! Just sell your best self! Good luck on your application!

Thank you so so much for your help!!

They might add one more question to the video essay, their website says " TWO video essay questions". but Thank God! they will give us the prompt.

one more question. I assume there is no interview right? I heard the video and other essay part are like a replacement for interview process.

and is there a spelling check function which a word underlines in red within the application?

Hey Yoonsung,

There’s no interview, so I guess the timed video essay replaces that. Oh and there’s now 2 timed video essays? I guess they took out the timed written essay portion. It might be better because you can show off your personality more and express yourself better than you were to do so on paper.

Typically for all my written essays, I wrote them on a Word document so that way I keep all my typos in check. After you’re done writing your essay, you can upload the Word document or just copy and paste it onto the application.

You have a lot of time to perfect your application, so take your time with it! Good luck!

Terilyn,

LOL no. now it is 2 personal statement, 2 video essay questions AND 1 timed written essay. I guess they are making it harder and harder.

I really appreciate your helpful tips!

Any updates from all the applicants? How is the program? The schedule? Cost? Is it hybrid? Do they find clinicals for you? What's your specialty?
