Columbia MDE 2022

I know the application hasn't opened yet, but wondering if there was anyone else thinking of applying to Columbia MDE/DNP programs for June 2022 entry?

Re. MSN vs. BSN question - With both degrees, if you pass your NCLEX, you'd be a licensed RN. I don't see why hospitals would prefer one or the other, especially as new grads. I think an MSN is beneficial when applying for a nurse leader role, but I imagine that would require prior years of experience as an RN.

Also, am I losing it... but where is the portal everyone's talking about? Is it the portal that has all our submitted documents when we completed our app?

@HisGlory316 Yeah! The “portal” is the place you submitted your application. They send an email saying a decision has been reached and to log in and check your account. ?

Thank you, and same to everyone! How many are usually in a cohort? Is it ~200?

LOL! ?I'm just going to have zero hope and zero expectations at all so I don't get disappointed , and then if I get in I'll just be really happy. It's a flawless system!

Hi! 
If there are around 200 in the cohort how many do they usually admit? I am assuming not everyone attends that is accepted.

Cohort as in the entire admitted MDE class right? Does any one know how many per specialty?

There are 200 MDE and six specialties for DNP, so that is 33 per specialty. But they might have more or less depending on which specialty. You can get into MDE but not into DNP, too.

You’re right, it varies by specialty. Last year, they mentioned for example the PMHNP specialty cohort ends up being fewer than 20 people. Yearly admits is around 200.
