Columbia ETP 2016

Hello!

I know this is a bit early, but I'm planning to apply to the apply to the Columbia Entry to Practice Program (among a few others) this fall. I've seen similar forums for past application periods, and thought it might be nice to get one started so we can start to bounce ideas and questions off each other.

Has anyone been to an open house? Any information worth sharing?

I totally forgot there was a Masters Entry for MGH! I got a scholarship so it's a solid second choice for me. I'm actually only holding out for UPenn now. I'd like to know if I got into Columbia, but I will likely give up my position if I get it.

I applied to a lot more schools than necessary. I didn't realize I'd actually get into them! I got into George Washington, Emory and MGH. Got rejected from UWashington and still waiting for about 4 more!

@ignisviridae Oh wow, well congrats! I hope you get into your first choice, but honestly, you've got a good list of potential schools! I was considering UPenn, but after much debate I decided not to follow through with the application. Where do you currently live?

Thank you! I'm in the Bay Area, California right now. Definitely going to move out of CA though, I didn't apply to any schools in the state.

I'm in the same position, except from Texas. Didn't apply anywhere in TX, even though my undergrad school (UT Austin) has a great direct-entry program. I decided against UPenn after reading their strict requirements on grades- I read (on their website I think) that the median GPA score they accept is 3.8, which definitely wasn't my undergrad GPA. Also, I think they had an extra pre-req and I was totally done taking pre-reqs! I applied to UCSF, Columbia, Yale, MGH, Northeastern, and Seattle U. Rejected from Yale (big surprise) and as I said interviewing at UCSF. Haven't heard from any others yet! I honestly just applied anywhere I felt like I'd be happy living, because I really only want to get into UCSF or Columbia... Would be pretty disappointed if it didn't happen :/

Hey emara9! That's odd, they told me that as long as I have a 3.0 they don't care about my grades. Either way, I hope that's not true because I definitely don't have a 3.8 either!

Let's hope that we all get accepted to our respected specialties! I just wanna rip the bandage off, the wait is killing me.

FutureNP04- What specialty did you apply to?

I applied to the FNP/DNP track...this school is my last hope to get into nursing school this year. I only applied to two though because I wanted to stay close to NYC, the other was Yale but they did not grant me an interview ;(, so I am hoping to hear good news.
