Has anyone started a thread yet? The application is due in 174 days and as you can see I'm already obsessing.
Anyone else?!
Yes, I just did this yesterday. I've already finished FAFSA for my other schools, so I logged back in to edit it. I removed all of the other schools from my list except for Columbia. Then you go back and do the 5th year undergrad thing. Since I've already sent the rest of my FAFSAs in, I didn't want to inadvertently override my existing forms with the schools. Deleting the other programs keeps you from sending the wrong info to them. It shouldn't undo what they've already received....I think? I hope.
Snoozyd, no, I don't think it will override what you had saved for the other schools. The way Columbia sent it to me, was once you hit submit for the school codes that you had entered, that goes into their system and any other changes you make on the application (deleting school codes, adding school codes and changing status from undergraduate to graduate) will not change your status for the other programs. It seems confusing so hope it goes through okay. I plan to do Columbia FAFSA this Friday, hit submit, then take Columbia off and add in all of the other schools in. Hopefully that works alright!
Hopefully you have already submitted your FAFSA and will receive financial aid info quickly.
I am currently completing the ETP portion of the program and was in the same spot as you last year.
Pretty much everyone in the program qualified for and received the CUSON $25,000 grant for the ETP year. I haven't received my financial aid info yet for next year, but I believe there is a $10,000 grant available for the first year of the MSN portion of the program.
Hope this info is helpful.
Also meant to include this link to the CUSON Scholarships and Grants page:
Hey! Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted!
I don't know how I didn't realize this before, but I only just noticed that Columbia confers a BS/MS as opposed to a BSN/MSN. Someone else mentioned this but I couldn't find the comment. They said it is "effectively" the same thing. I'm wondering if anyone knows what the difference is?
I'm also in the boat that was accepted in general but not for the specialty I wanted. Do you know whether if I left after the BS portion, the lack of a "BSN" would impact my ability to attend another graduate school for my specialty or find a job (assuming I passed the NCLEX!)?
Thank you! Love this thread!
It is definitely a nursing degree. However I do want to say that they frown upon people only going for the bachelor's portion. They select their admitted students based on their staying through the whole program. They want to make sure they're not wasting their time on people who are going to take a spot from someone who's planning to stay the whole 2.5-3 years for both degrees. It is not supposed to be only used for a BS degree. They talked about this at the info session and I got the impression that it's really important to them.

Has anyone done FAFSA for Columbia yet? I called Financial Services at Columbia. From what I gathered, since we are filing as a "5th year undergraduate" for the ETP first year, we will have to submit Columbia, and once it is submitted, Columbia will receive it, and then we erase Columbia's school code and change our status as "graduate" student so that way we can fill in all of our other school programs. It seems kind of confusing, but hopefully straight forward once we start it. Has anyone done this yet and have any further clarification?
