Columbia ETP 2010

Published

Hey Y'all!

I'm getting ready to apply to the Columbia's ETP for 2010. I was just wondering who else was applying and what you were doing to make your application stronger! Also where else are you applying and what do your stats look like (GPA, GRE, experience, etc) ? I'm getting nervous as I start the whole application process and just thought I'd turn to the forums for some support and guidance!

I'm looking forward to sharing the journey with y'all! Hope to hear from you soon! :)

FEBRUARY 11TH??!?!?!??!?!?!?! SERIOUSLY?!?!?!? I don't know if I can take it. Haha. Patience is definitely a virtue....I need to learn to be more patient I guess. Ugh.

To ALL :

I just got an email from Jose Villa that they will send out the acceptances on Thursday Feb. 11. Another week of worry. This is the way it is .

Did anyone else almost jump out of their seat when they saw the email? I think I was just shocked to receive anything today!!!

Hi:

I think we have to read between the lines on this email. It says all letters will be out by Thurs. Feb 11 which could mean they may start sending them out in batches and they will all arrive by Thursday. This will prevent the phone calls from those that do not get the first batch. This is a theory only.

hey -

My girlfriend and I are both waiting for the letter, too - its nice to know we aren't the only ones who cant think of anything else! I applied to the anesthesia track whereas she went for FNP. When we went to an information session I swear every third person said they wanted to do anesthesia so i figure my chances are slim at best! Now after reading all your responses it sounds like FNP is also very popular, so now i'm worried for her too :)

I wanted to weigh in on complaints about the ETP program. I know people doing nursing at Pace, NYU, Downstate, CMSV, Hunter, BMCC, etc. and not a single one of them likes their programs. The ones at the accelerated programs have the most complaints. I'm sure some programs are better than others, but they all say their programs are horribly disorganized, rushed, extremely stressful, and so on.

I'm sure some of the programs are genuinely better than others, but I don't think you can squeeze a bachelors nursing degree into 52 weeks without generating a lot of complaints!

don't worry too much guys... we all turned in our apps in almost 3 months ago! I think we can wait 7 short days to hear about decisions :)

My email said they will be available ON Thursday, February 11th....what the what? And I thought it was rough waiting until tomorrow...this is truly painful.

Wow, haven't logged in for a two days & was surprised to see so many responses!

natalie627, not only did I jump out of my seat, my heart skipped a beat!

phd2np, word! That's exactly how I feel. After seeing my mom & step-dad in the hospital last year, I hoped & prayed that good ppl were there to take good care of them and was happy that my parents raved about their caretakers. Hopefully we'll have a chance to "pay it forward." Guess we'll all have to wait & wonder a lil longer...

I like your positive thinking dingras! BUT mine says on February 11th as well! I really just started jumping up and down when I saw that I received an email from them, until I opened it...

I'm applying for the Midwifery program by the way. I REALLY wanted to do the dual Midwifery/WHNP track, but they don't offer dual concentrations anymore???? Does that irk anyone else that wanted to do that??? I've heard that midwifery sometimes may not have too many opportunities in some areas such as the cities (I'm from Boston), so getting a WHNP degree will give more options at least. I know that they had it last year while I was researching grad school opportunities, but when it came time to applying, I couldn't find the program anymore!! Which really bummed me.....

Baby Catcher,

I spoke to another school about this and its not hard to add the WHNP. You take a few extra classes to be able to sit for the WHNP license exam. Since Columbia has both degrees I imagine they'd allow you, once admitted, to add the classes. Might take some extra time but don't despair, I think you'll be able to do it (it's my plan too!).

I am joining this forum since I am also going out of my mind waiting... Thank you everyone, I find it helpful to know that I am not alone in my misery! I applied to the anesthesia program... so chances are very slim!

Good luck everyone!

wow lots of anesthesia applicants! i think thats the case at most schools. good luck to you all!

am i the only one applying for psychiatry/mental health?
