Columbia ETP Program 2012 entry

Published

Hi,

I plan on applying for the anesthesia program at Columbia and I wanted to know how the background of those that have been accepted look like to see if I'm even competitive enough apply.

Thanks!

It was different. It was an acceptance letter indicating the program, the dates for visit day and deposit deadline and a link to the web page where you pay the deposit. Looked like the real deal.

Not sure what to make of that. Did others see actual decision letters as well?

Different letter indicating admission/rejection. This is totally stressful!

Specializes in MS, RN, FNP-BC.

Looks like I was rejected according to the letter that was up. I'm hoping that it was a random letter but it was most likely the real decision. Good luck everyone.

Hey all,

Just watching this thread as I am a regular decision applicant (not early.) Can't stand the wait anymore, but I just wanted to encourage all those in the same boat.. if visiting students day is in early March, we are going to have our decisions soon! Seven more days... that's my guess.. we can do it! ALSO, to provide all us waiting with some additional brain-torture, can anyone accepted who is watching this thread re-share their qualifications/grades/experience? So much of that part of the thread was lost with the site upgrade... So accepted students, go!

Firstly, goodluck to all those waiting! I am an accepted ED applicant and I remember how stressful and exhausting the wait for decisions was. I applied to Yale and did not even get an interview so I had all but completely convinced myself that I wouldn't be offered admission to Columbia either (even though Columbia was my top choice and I felt more compatible with CUSON) so getting in (and for Midwifery, YAY) was the best news I think I've ever gotten.

As for stats, I will share mine though I am sure that my essay had the most weight

gpa: 3.3, recently graduated from FSU, BS in bio and women's studies

new GRE scores: 156 and 159

The chunk of my volunteering was at two hospitals and for a battered women's shelter

I don't have any nursing experience, as my interest in midwifery is a relatively recent development, but I've always been passionate about medicine and women's wellbeing.

I am excited to find out who else will be in this ETP class! Goodluck everyone :)

Good luck everybody, the wait is killer!

I was admitted early for Pediatrics. I applied for the dual MS/MPH and won't hear back from the PH school until early March so sadly I've still got at least a month until things settle down.

BA Community Health and International Relations double major, graduated 2010

3.51 undergrad GPA, 3.9 prereqs

640Q 600V 5.5AW

Study/worked in China and South Africa- traditional medicine, public health, and care of orphaned and vulnerable children

Currently a clinical research coordinator in the emergency department of a children's hospital- lots of direct work with patients/families but not clinical care, I do get to do some neuropsych testing with some of the kids

I also do some disaster relief work with the Red Cross

What website/link were you guys checking? I have no idea what link we need to look for updates. it's not the application link one is it?

Yup! For the ED applicants they emailed us that decisions were up and to log into our applications. Once on the main page there was a link under your prereqs/transcripts list that said something like "click here for your decision" which took us to a letter.

Okay everyone.... Round II, decisions will be posted this week!!! So nervous, please post when you get your notification email to check their website for your decision!!!!!May the force be with you!:)

Oh God!!!! I can't wait to know!!!! I hope it's today :) Goodluck everyone!

Barbie, how do you know it's this week?

Hi everyone!! Hope people got to unwind a bit this weekend- much needed!

I talked to Jose Villa this morning and he said that it will be no later than mid next week. I asked him what the chances are this week, and he just said no later than mid next week...
