Columbia ETP Program 2012 entry

Published

Hi,

I plan on applying for the anesthesia program at Columbia and I wanted to know how the background of those that have been accepted look like to see if I'm even competitive enough apply.

Thanks!

hey tyroneserval, when i went to an info session earlier this month, they told me they were trying to get the decisions in by the end of the first week in february, so hopefully we'll all hear soon!

Were we supposed to file a FAFSA and submit something to financial aid by January 4th? I went back reading this thread and saw someone say that. I must have missed the email. If I have not done this, am I screwed???? Help!!!

Or maybe that deadline applied only to early decision peeps??? eeeek!

I think you should be fine, I never filled out any fafsa forms for My undergrad universty until I knew I was accepted... I'm assuming it would be the same for this?

That FAFSA thing was for people who were accepted early. It wasn't anything official, just a way for them to give you an idea of the aid package you could be expected to receive. So I wouldn't worry about not getting it in yet, there's still time!

Thank you bkhiyw and barbie. I was planning on waiting until my W-2s and other tax documents came in so I can accurately state my income.

Do you guys know if we would be considered graduate students at the start of the program, or still undergrads? I'm wondering how to fill in the FAFSA

I would guess that for the first year while you are obtaining the bsn you are still an undergraduate, and the second year while obtaining the ms you would be a graduate student ?

If I am not accepted, will I also hear the news in the beginning of feb?Soooo nervous

I emailed them and never heard back but maybe you can give it a try too.

Well we aren't supopsed to find out yet....did you apply for early decision?

I hope they are able to fulfill their projected date for notification letters. If so, they will be the earliest program I will hear back from. I hope they do not expect us to turn around in 2 weeks and accept or deny if we are in fact invited to the program. Especially because many of us will still need to hear back from our other programs.

No I didn't apply early, I guess I'm just being overzealous. I thought that since we are so close to the end of January they might have a more concrete idea about when letters will be going out.
