Hi,
I plan on applying for the anesthesia program at Columbia and I wanted to know how the background of those that have been accepted look like to see if I'm even competitive enough apply.
Thanks!
Hi greenscout,
I talked about my experience/grades in response to ariana22's post.
Other things I forgot to mention which might be relevant is that my GRE was 1300 and I was an assistant teacher at UC Berkeley for a course which covered topics in consciousness, neurology, and anesthesiology.
Let me know if you have more questions.
Hi jqfish,
Thanks for sharing this information with us.
I am a new ETP student coming to NY from CA. I will be in NY Jan 26th to Jan 30th. I plan on coming to CSON on January 27th to check out the school because I may not be able to attend admit day in March because I left my job this month and I am currently doing volunteer work.
If you are available to meet with me to speak briefly about your experience in the program, I would greatly appreciate it. I would also be open to meeting anyone who you think would be interested. I know you and the other students must be extremely busy, so I am just hoping for the best.
Quote from rg06cHi LookingAhead,I was wondering if you wouldnt mind sending me some of the info you found out about the CNM program as well? Thanks in advance!Hi LookingAhead,Would you mind sending me the impressions you had from the Columbia program as well? I too am a midwifery applicant. Thanks!
Sent you a PM!
Has anyone heard/seen anything updated on their application page? I submitted my fall transcripts before the deadline, but nothing has been updated in my application yet.
I'd be interested in hearing people's experience with this too...any changes on the applicant portal for other posters here? Nothing on my end so I'm hoping it all went through OK.

Hi ariana22,
I did apply for early decision. I'm not sure what you mean specifically by experience, but here are my general stats.
GPA: 3.8
Worked primarily in mental health, child development, public policy.
Most of my experience was in research and teaching at UC Berkeley and Stanford University. I also worked with First 5 California, which supports education and health services for poor children and their families.
I discovered that I loved the fast-paced hospital and health care setting when I started doing research at a General Hospital last year.
