Columbia ETP Program 2012 entry

I plan on applying for the anesthesia program at Columbia and I wanted to know how the background of those that have been accepted look like to see if I'm even competitive enough apply.

Hey guys,I called in yesterday and they said THIS Friday and worst case scenario Monday. Seems like they are giving out different info?

It's scary because it seems like the department may be disorganized from the very start of the program. Notifications are extremely stressful I am sure for the office - if they only were consistent with the information they give out.

I called the admissions office yesterday and they put me through to a man (not Jose Villa- Im not sure who). He told me that by the end of this week. However, a friend of mine called today and some girl in the admissions office said the next couple of weeks, but they are hoping by the end of next week.

So confused!!!

If anyone gets more info, post it please :)

I just called and spoke to a girl. She said they hoped for the beginning of February meaning next week... Or the week after. We will get an email. This is pretty frustrating!

I emailed Jose Villa yesterday with regards to when we should expect a decision. He emailed me back today saying that the decisions will be made by mid February. So, it looks like we will have to wait another 2 weeks. Hang in there everyone. Good luck.

Oh my! I am so nervous. I was deferred from last year...anybody else with the same situation?

I really do hope I get in. For those of you who were deferred we were allowed to edit our personal statements and resumes by emailing Jose. I did that and I received a confirmation from him that it was all updated. However, it doesn't appear updated on the website. I emailed him just to double check again and he said my application was updated. Anybody have any insight into this?

I'm so nervous waiting...thank you for all who provided information.

aaaahhh they are so disorganized!!!!!!!!!!! someone is definitely reading this thread of all of us freaking out and is laughing haha well we can at least hope we hear soon!

I think it's unfair of them to tell us the first week in feb. and then change their mind. It might not be a big deal to them but don't they understand how crazy this is making everyone???? Ah more waiting is right.

If you read posts from previous years, this seems to happen all the time at various schools. I wouldn't read into it as any sign of disorganization within the program. But, it's still no fun for us! :) haha
