Columbia BSN/MSN ETP 2014

Published

I was surprised that there didn't seem to be a thread for this year's applicants to Columbia's ETP program. So I thought I would start one. The information session was today, but I wasn't able to go. :( I was hoping someone else went and would be able to post any admission statistics or tips for the personal statement they gave.

Yah the financial aid office told me we should fill it out for 5th year senior

Congratulations to everyone who got in, and good luck to all those on the wait list!! I will definitely be attending, so excited to meet you all! Unfortunately I cant come to accepted students day though... but the program starts in less than four months, so I guess I will meet you all soon enough! :-)

Emailed Financial Aid recently with the same question.

This is the response I received: "You will be a 5th year undergrad completing the 2014-2015 FAFSA."

Hope this helps.

I'm in for FNP! I'm still waiting to hear back from MGH but I am really excited about Columbia. Congrats to everyone who got in, and I hope that everything falls into place for those who didn't.

@k_pro I'm also waiting to hear back from MGH for FNP!! If you get in which will you pick???

congrats to everyone who got in! being on the waitlist, i MUST confess that i do hope that some of those who were admitted did get better offers somewhere else! ack! i feel terrible for saying that, but i hope to be offered a seat for this year! i want it so badly :p >.

I don't know! I've decided not to stress out about it until I know I have a choice.

Hi agsetlur,

what specialty did u apply for? I hope you get in too! Someone on this thread posted that they admit quite a few wait listed applicants so you most definitely have a shot :)

so excited to see all of these acceptances and then i remembered that i'm not applying until november and i still have to wait my turn! :dead: ugh. hope no one minds me asking for advice in a couple months -- hopefully everyone will still be around.

well, congratulations everyone!

wellthen - thank you for your vote of confidence! i could use your positivity! i applied to nurse-midwifery, and would highly prefer not to change my mind about the specialty, but if I do get the chance to study at Columbia, am starting to think that i may be willing to change if they offer me a spot for something else! we'll see - i still have other schools i need to hear back from, so maybe if it comes down to it, start another program this year if i dont get columbia, and try to transfer in next year, seeing how waitlisted students are also considered for the next application cycle if they are not chosen!

you? what's your interest? :)

All the other schools to which I'm applying consider their students first year masters so I don't know quite what to do. Currently my FAFSA says 1st year masters but.... Anyone else in same boat. I don't know if I should contact FA and say "Oh hey your school isn't my top choice and so I left it at 1rst year masters" lol

You can go in and change your FAFSA to 5th yr undergrad--the schools will then have both on file. I ran into the same problem and spoke with FAFSA on the phone to make sure it would work to do it that way.
