Yale 2015
Hi everyone, I know that YSN is planning on shortening the upcoming curriculum and I've scanned the forum somewhat and have not seen any mention of this here. Does anyone know how YSN is planning on cutting down the GEPN program time? Has anyone asked Melissa about this? As anyone spoken to current GEPNs regarding how shortening the curriculum could impact our education if we end up in the specialty year at the same time as the fall 2014 GEPNs? What will this mean for clinical rotation spots if now almost double the amount of students are vying for the same spot? Just some thoughts if anyone cares to offer some answers.

Hi MFTtoPNP I will most definitely live in the grad dorms. As much as I wanted to have my own apartment with my own bathroom *sigh* and bring my car up I've realized, for me, the smartest thing to do is to do the easiest things for the GEPN year. Do you have any ideas as to what you might do?

Columbia BSN/MSN ETP 2014
selizabethk -I applied for the traditional program so I'm hoping that is what the interview is for. I also read about the 6-9 month requirement which doesn't interest me at the moment though I can see the value in having that be apart of the program. I do appreciate a smaller class size but 22 is a little smaller than I would like but it's flattering to be offered an interview for a program with such a low admissions rate. Yale admits about 80 students which sounds comparatively less extreme than CUSON and NEU. Columbia's size does sound like it wouldn't be hard to feel alienated but I'm sure there are parameters in place to avoid that as much as possible. Did you do a phone interview? I'm pretty sure that I'll be going that route (unless my boyfriend is feeling like a day trip up to Boston is needed )

Yikes! NS14 that does not sound promising. My interview would be with Mary Foley who I believe is associated with the master's program. Ughh if people are already confused and there is inconsistent information then I can't see how it would be a good place to go. I think I'll just do the phone interview since I'm iffy about the place and doing that won't really cost anything.

Columbia BSN/MSN ETP 2014
Just got an offer to interview at Northeastern but idk guys :/ ...Columbia has been soooo informative and don't even get me started on Miss. Melissa at Yale with all those emails; that lady is a saint! Northeastern barely gets back to me (or answers the phone for that matter) when I call/email. Does anyone know anything about the program at NEU and how their students have felt about it? Sorry I know this is not on-topic but even a little dash of insight would be appreciated :)

I totally agree MarshaRabbit. I fell in love with the environment of the school and everyone there (even when I got lost on my way to my interviewers office a kind lady named Rachel helped me find my way, wished me luck and hoped to see me again, and complimented me on my hair!). I'm from NYC and I've been here my whole life (exact my one year stint at PSU) so I'm use to the cold and I even got into Columbia but I'm really looking for a change of scenery making Yale my last hope for change! :)

there was an email sent not too long ago saying, among other things, notification of merit scholarships will be sent along with admissions decisions. So no interview for merit scholarships

mentalhealthadvocate, when was your Yale interview? After the orientation day I fell head over heels in love and hope that they accept me but getting into Columbia is really amazing! And yes the Columbia program starts sooo fast I hear UCSF is great but is quite difficult to get into, do they interview there?
