Colon therapy and enemas.

Published

I came across an article the other day that exclaimed that every one of us carry an average of 7-8 pounds of impacted fecal matter within us. Some of the subjects noted within the article had went to a health retreat where there was extensive colon irrigation done. A marble was dispelled from a patient who claimed he had swallowed it as a child and now he was in his mid-forties. Is this possible or is it another medical myth?

Correctol, now that you mention it, a forensic Nursing story.

They took original correctol off the market, it contained a drug called phenol thaline (don't hold me to spelling here)

I go to Forensics Clinical, it was how to find blood and finger print day. What chemical was discussed? Phynol thaline. Great for finding blood and working on scene Identification. It was one of those you had to be theres, I used to look up drugs like a good student and kept all my drug cards from graduating in 1975. I had a card for a laxitive called phenol thaline, Like I said, you had to be there

Because you intestinal tract does have stuff in it- food, that is the process of being digested.

Gee 28 years of nursing practice, why did I never associate this with digestion of food?

Duh! try reading entire threads, like when someone said a marble from childhood came out from hocus pocus High colonics

Go Barb, Go Barb!

There is nothing medical about this.

Come on you are nurses you know the answers to this. You undrstand the chemical and mechanical action here. You also know that the creates laxitive dependence. You also know this creates electrolyte imbalance and you know this stems from a basic rejection of body function and a total lack of knowlege on the part of people doing this. And you know there are sexual overtones to this so called therapy.

You also know that having stool in the colon is not an impaction.

and what  was this person doing poking around insomeone's eww to remove a marble. Don't you see this as a little perverted?

It was probably a marble of poop. Nothing else.

If they want to play in someone elses poop or their own fine. Just leave me out of it. S'cuse me while I go wash my hands.

just an update, the thread had to do with questions about high colonic enemas , and health practitioners preaching this for health and that someone found a marble he had swallowed since childhood. Go back to the begining, and read the thread

I vote for big pile 'a hooey (figuratively)

Yes, we could all make a big pile of cash working as "colon hydrotherapists", the downside is that we'd all lose our licences because we'd be doing a procedure that nobody has been able to claim has any therapeutic value -- except for the traditional uses of course.

Just what are all these "toxins" that we all supposedly carry in out colons? And why can't we get rid of them through having a good old BM? And why hasn't medical science figured out how to get rid of all these nasty toxins.

A purely "recreational" thing, if you ask me.

When folks start talkin' toxins, I always ask "What toxins?".

EWWWW!!!!

And I thought I was immune to the gross out factor. But I just can't imagine anyone wanting to do this. We do everything we can where I work to keep from having to give people enemas. Including the use of some nasty stuff called PABA on our med passes...hmmm I wonder if I got a snazzy marketing techinque if I could sell the stuff (stewed prunes, apple sauce and bran, YUCK):chuckle

did anyone see the multiple ads at the right side of the screen for

colon hydrotherapy? Is there a 900 number?

I thing this subject should be as remote a subject as Urorifice is distant from us.
