Hello

I was just wondering who else is applying for the Spring 2010 semester at Collin County in McKinney! Do you guys know what the minimum amount of points people had for the last term? What are your stats? (if you don't mind sharing!)

I'm applying with either a 10 or 11 (not really sure how they're going to do my overall GPA because of all of the places I have attended).

Hi Everyone

I am taking my PSB Exam for Collin College on Nov. 3rd. Any advice on how to study for the exam and what subject to focus on more. Is there an specific study guide that i should consider following.. PLEASE HELP!!

HI everyone, I have a question. I heard what the nursing advisor said was a rumor and was not true:

That a 0 replaces the one prereq you haven't finished when applying, so the prereq GPA for points ends us being WAY lower and the same applies if you haven't completed other core course work, like Life Span. So the overall GPA would be lower too because a zero would be added for each class not finished.

Is this a horrible rumor? My heart was ripped out when I heard this. She said she had heard it from someone int he program....i can't put a name though, but then the nursing advisor said it was NOT true at all.

Has anyone heard of this. Thanks!!!

Nope, never heard of it. I still had one pre-req to finish and one co-req to take when I applied. Got in first try.

I don't think that is quite accurate. I was accepted with only 15 points because they had not yet received my transcript indicating my A in Statistics (I had 16 points once they received it). It doesn't count as a zero in terms of GPA, it is just not included yet, but they evaluate your transcript if only one pre-req course is yet to be completed. I hope this makes sense.

Thank you! I didn't think so and checked with the advisor and that is what she said as well. So much misinformation running around! Well, I take my PSB in two weeks. Wish me luck! Anyone know how much math is on it? :uhoh3:

The first section of the test is grouped into 3 question 'chunks' and you answer as many as you can in the time given.

1 spatial relation/manipulate data/one of these things is different 'type'

1 gramm/spelling/used in sentence 'type'

1 math 'type'

The questions are basic math so they are not super-hard. It is just that they are timed so it adds pressure :)

Knowing fractions and roman numbers/military clock will help.

Good Luck!

thanks!

how much micro is on it? I think I just need a good review of math and go over the science stuff a bit and i'll be ok. getting really nervous!!!

Focus more on earth science, biology and A&P than micro.

The math section is not difficult, nor is the spelling section, at least in my opinion.

One key to doing well is to remember that you are only graded on the questions you actually answer and the number of questions you answer in the given time period figures into your percentile placement. Ultimately you get your score based on how you did compared to others who take the same test. So don't randomly answer things in a panic. If you don't know, move on to the next question and then go back to those you skipped if you have time. Just be sure you keep your scantron form straight.

Hey just wanted to let you guys know that I got a 6 on my PSB! I'm stoked!!!

Anyway, as of right now I stand at a 15, and will apply on Jan 31st. Of course I'll be doing Micro in the spring, but hopefully even with my 15 i'll be standing pretty good for the Fall of 2011. Thanks everyone for the PSB tips!!!!

You will likely get in with 15 pts. Good luck!

Thanks! And thanks again for the tips. You really helped me out! How's the program? You're in what, you're second year by now?

Finishing up second semester. The program is very good and our class is quite tight-knit. Very supportive of one another. I won't lie- it is tough. If you have kiddos, get full time childcare. The schedule will look like you can get away with part time, but you honestly can not with the volume of work you have to do.

The instructors are very supportive and I do feel we are getting a fantastic foundation.
