COLLIN COLLEGE - Spring 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hi guys! I thought I’d make a new forum for those applying to the Spring program at Collin College.

I applied for the fall semester, but I was not accepted, the fall term was extremely competitive. I was told that they had an unprecedented amount of applicants last cycle, there were over 400 applicants. Also, the average TEAS score of the applicants was 87.5. I retook my TEAS last week and made a 92!

Hi Jazzzy! Thanks so much! I was even told it could be beginning of October. Detrimental to my psyche, LOL.

You’re welcome! Where are you transferring from?

West Coast University in Dallas. They are way too expensive. Had to withdraw rite before I started core nursing classes ?

Oh yes, private universities are notoriously expensive, that’s why I stayed away from them! It seems like a huge sham. It was a smart move for you to withdraw! There are far better and cheaper options, such as Collin!

Yes, but it kinda sucks to be back at square one. Playing this God awful waiting game and all the other nuisances that come with applying to nursing school ?

Yeah I appreciate the feedback! I last took the TEAS 8/26.  So the reason, I have to wait a little is because I am living in Austin and moving to Dallas next year.  I most likely will apply for next fall, so I can keep my TEAS scores.  I found out my financial aid will not cover a retake of A and P 1 bc I technically passed it, and money is very tight right now ? I’m gonna sit on an info session this Thursday but I most likely will have to keep the C and so my GPA will be a 3.2 and with my 92 on my TEAS, I’ll have 18ish points.  Oh well ?

I had 24.39 pts. Good luck with everything. I will have to retake TEAS if I don't get into the LVN side ?

Is the point system for LVN different? I know at Collin, the max points you can make is 22 for the traditional RN program. I am applying with 20.2 points.

My bad! I mixed this post up with another thread I'm on for TJC. So my pts are for TJC.

Thanks for inadvertently catching that?

OMG I just got so scared, glad it was for another program. I was like 18.29 out of 22 is already stressful enough LOL

See! Look how crazy this makes us, LOL. This is "Heart Attack" real for us...I can't even keep up between 2 different threads smh

That’s a bummer!! Either way, you still have a solid chance, your TEAS score is high enough to balance everything out. Are you applying to any other schools?

Unfortunately Collin is the only one I meet the requirements at this point. Dallas community college you need Chemistry, which I don’t have the exact one they need. And universities are too expensive, I would prefer ADN first. I researched other CC programs as well and Collin seems to be the best and where I have the highest chance getting in with what I already have.  I know I’m like right at that spot where it could go either way depending on other applicants.  Still a bit aways but just trying to think ahead. I am contemplating taking the TEAS again to see if I can get higher to get me a little closer to 19 points haha the struggle.
