Collin College Spring 2013 applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I recently applied to the nursing program for Spring 2013 but have not been a student at Collin College. I have heard numerous things about how you get accepted, the importance of the PSB score, whether or not you have a degree, etc. Anybody out there in the same boat as me? Wondering what's true and what isn't? I was also told we should get letters in the mail some time around September 11 either being accepted or rejected. True?

Any knowledge on this would be great!

Yay! I also have fifteen points! OMG!!!

Did you have 5 or 6 points on your PSB? Collin County resident? Previous degree? Medical experience? I just got my letter and am waiting for my husband to get home before I open it.. AHHHH!!!

I GOT IN!! I GOT IN!!

Congrats, y'all!! I'm a semester away from applying, but I've been following this site, and especially this thread, closely for lots of pointers and to understand the process. I can't wait to hear how you all enjoy the program!!

Congrats Pepper35! I only had 5 out of 6 on the PSB. My overall GPA was like a 3.9 and science GPA was 3.8 something. I have finished all of my prereques for the BSN program so I'm not sure if that helps as well. So excited!!!

wooohoooo!!!! I got in!!! I had 16 points but being out of county, I was concerned! YAY!

Congrats!!!

I'm going to orientation on the 23rd, figured I'd ask since you just mentioned it. I live in Frisco, but on the Denton County side. I've just been under the assumption that I lose a point for not being in Collin County. Now that I understand the point system better, how does the fact that I live out of county impact getting into the program? Is that something they hold against you, even if you have 15 or 16 points?

It is more used as a tie breaker. If you and another individual were same/same everywhere else but they lived in Collin County and you did not, they would take the prize.

Thanks, not.done.yet!

I had 6 on the PSB, previous degree, and medical experience, but not a Collin County resident.

I will see you ladies on the 23!!!

What is on the 23rd? My letter says orientation is on November 30th.

The 23rd is just for the nursing info session at the PC campus. I've been focusing on my classes and making sure my grades are A's. Now I'm ready to start looking towards the PSB and getting my app in. :)
