Collin College Spring 2013 applicants

I recently applied to the nursing program for Spring 2013 but have not been a student at Collin College. I have heard numerous things about how you get accepted, the importance of the PSB score, whether or not you have a degree, etc. Anybody out there in the same boat as me? Wondering what's true and what isn't? I was also told we should get letters in the mail some time around September 11 either being accepted or rejected. True?

Any knowledge on this would be great!

I talked to the nursing department today to ask about a CPR class. The woman I spoke with told me to go ahead and get the course out of the way because she wasn't sure if the instructor that usually offers it will be teaching it in January for all of us. It has to be the healthcare provider CPR. She said there's only one instructor that can teach it.

I went to a place over off beltline and 75 to do my CPR class a couple weeks ago. It wasn't bad, I was only there for about 3 hours & I think it cost $50.00

Make sure your CPR class is American Heart Assoc.

The class I attended was AHA and for healthcare providers! Very excited for orientation so we can get more details. I assume we can't register for spring classes until after that?

Adf96, are you in the spring class also?

My guess is we don't register at all. The nursing department registers all of us I believe. Orientation can't get here fast enough!

Does anyone know if I can get my TB test the same day I get my flu shot and finish my hep series? I know the flu shot is not a live virus so I know I can with that but am unsure about hep a & b.

I did the TB test and all my immunizations at my dr's appointment for our required physical that we needed. I plan on doing the flu shot soon and there's coupons but we're not allowed to advertise. If u want to know more, I guess message me.

A lot of medical insurances actually cover flu shots under preventative. My husband and I don't have to pay anything out of pocket.

Hello everybody! I just couldn't wait until orientation to buy "something" or anything really for the first semester, sooo... I called the nursing department and they said we could go ahead and buy our stethoscopes.. Any color too! I have heard from all of my doctor friends, nurses, etc that Littman is by far the best brand to purchase!

I too have heard that the Littman is the best. I have read a ton of review for the Classic II and that seems to be the one I am going to go with, also I had some friends that just finished the nursing program say to definitely pay the little bit extra and get your name put on it.
