Collin College Nursing Fall 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello! I know I am super early, but just trying to be proactive. I am planning on applying to the Fall 2021 ADN program at Collin. I currently have a B in A and P 1 and 2 and will be finishing Micro in the Spring semester. Does anyone know someone who has gotten in with B's in the science pre-reqs and a higher TEAS score? I'm taking the TEAS in 2 weeks and if I need to plan to take it again before submitting my final application in May. Any insight would be helpful ?

Apply to other schools if you don’t get into Collin. I knew After reading these forums getting into Collins program would be super hard. So I applied to NCTC and WGU. I got into both! I choose WGU because it’s 2 1/2 years and it’s a bachelors program. In the long run I feel I’m not spending much more than doing a community school and then a bachelors bridge.  Plus WGU is online which works better for my family sin I’m a mom of 4.  I had a B inA&P 1, A in A&P 2, and a B in Micro. I made an 80.7 on my TEAS. I already have a bachelors degree as well. Just want you guys to look at other options.

Also applying to ! Hoping to get in for the august cohort. I BARELY missed the application timeline.

AP1 lec B lab B

AP2 lec A lab B

MICRO lec A lab A

TEAS 76% overall

Only previous associates degree, but I do medical billing and medical coding for a family practice so I am hoping that is taken into consideration.

Alright, so one thing that I can't seem to REALLY get a feel for: How much does this program really cost? There's no estimates on the school website that I have been able to find and I'm beginning to wonder if I'll need to find an alternative way to fund this program for myself if I get accepted. Does anyone have any insight on how much the whole program costs and maybe how much the first semester costs?

With a 4.0 and a 90 on the TEAS you will be fine. That is par for the course for most accepted students. Things start getting iffy when you throw a B in there or a low 80 TEAS.

Should I be worried that my first Bachelor's degree was nothing but a blemish on my educational record? I had like a 3.2 GPA, but then I decided to go back for a second bachelor's a got my life together LOL

LOL, no not at all. That's actually more common than not in my cohort.

Depends on if you are in-county, out of county, or out of state. For in-county it will cost about $1,200 per semester. $400 for standard tuition and $800 for your ATI fees

Also, the first semester you will have to drop about $300 for a *** "skills bag" that you will only use 1/4 of the material out of... Then there are the Castle Branch fees, buying a set of Collin scrubs, book bundle, stethoscope, ect. I spent about $1200 on top of tuition for first semester. Good news is Collin offers a TON of scholarships to help offset the cost. They are easy to get and you'd be a fool to pass them up.

I've applied to the Collin scholarship area, but I haven't heard anything back. Maybe I should check on that. A scholarship would be VERY helpful LOL

Hey everyone! I just got my application in. It's a waiting game now. I just hope I can get in I've heard great things about this program! Applied with an A in A&P 1, a B in A&P 2, an A in Micro, and a 94 on TEAS. I'm super worried that the B in A&P 2 is gonna mess up my chances.

Yeah, but a 94% on TEAS? GG!

Hi everyone! After reading your comments I’m a bit worried now... so I have 18.6 points overall and main question is - is this good enough? and will they use a tie breaker on my score?

please let me know if anybody knows, thank you!

Now I’m terrified. I only took the TEAS once back in March and didn’t study, at all. I have a 4.0 with all 3 prerequisites completed. I have a total of 19.2 points.. but I’m scared now. I already sent in an application. Would it be possible to retake the TEAS and resubmit an application with my new score? ??‍♀️ #ffffmmmlll.

I think as long as u have your 2nd attempt u can still retake it. The last day of taking TEAS before the ADN application deadline is 5/27. But I don’t know anything about resending an application, so u gotta ask the nursing division for that. Another thing I would worry about is how exactly well u did on reading and science sections, since nobody knows when they’re gonna use the tie breaker...that’s one of the reasons I gotta retake my TEAS because I wasn’t happy with my reading score, but science was pretty well
