COLLIN COLLEGE FALL 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey guys! Who here is applying for the fall 2020 term? Anyone else here unable to take the TEAS due to the cancellations? I signed up for two test dates, both of which were canceled. I see they've updated the process with alternatives put in place for those who were unable to take the TEAS. That being said, it's still super confusing since the admission process is points-based and a major part of the selection criteria is your TEAS scores. I hope this doesn't mean that those who were unable to take the TEAS are not going to be prioritized in the admissions process. ?

I just finished taking my TEAS now. I got a 79.8 I was aiming for more but I mean it’s not too bad. That puts me at 13 points because I’m still taking Microbiology this Summer and I have an A in A n P 1 & 2. Please does anyone know how I can access my tranipts from Collin?

On CougarWeb click on the "student" tab. Then look about haflway down the page and there will be a link to access and print your UNOFFICIAL transcripts and order your official transcripts. For application all you need is thd unofficial ones so that first link is all you need.

Your TEAS score is fine! Don't be nervous. How did you feel during it? What part did you think was the hardest?

@DQuixote Thank you for the feedback. I found the unofficial transcript, but because I don’t have a printer at home I was not able to print it out directly. Also didn’t know how to send it by mail to be printed at Office Depot. I ended up just making a copy of my official transcript and sending to them. I called and spoke to (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) in the nursing department and she said it was OK to send the official transcript. I mailed my application today and now I’m having the same paranoia you all had. Hoping they get my application

The TEAS wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Though my science section was so hard. I only made a 75 in the science section which I thought I was most prepared for. Math was my absolute easiest section, I had an almost perfect score in math. Then reading and English were OK. Just so glad to be done with it

I mailed mine on Monday and I haven't gotten a feedback. How did ya all know they received it? Did you get a call?

I had called the nursing secretary on June 1st when they went back to work and they were able to confirm that they had received my hard copies. I also sent it via FedEx so I had a tracking number. I posted the number I used earlier in this thread if you need it.

I just called the secretary a few minutes ago. She told me they are currently going through over 300 applications, and that they’ll be sending an email out to everyone to confirm that they received their application. Not sure when though, she didn’t give me an estimate. So, now the waiting games start and the anxiety amplifies ?

You were smart to send it in earlier!

Mine arrives today. I got a tracking number and used USPS overnight. So it’s out for delivery now. Atleast that’s how I’ll know mine got delivered

LOL. June is going to suck. I am going to be watching my email like a HAWK. That being said, I like my odds if there are 300 applicants. There are 75 spots (as of now due to Covid-19) with 15 reserved for Texas 2-Step. 60 spots with 300 applicants is great odds! Way better than when I got my first job as a police officer. I tested against 500 people for 1 spot LOL. And that process was 6 months long. Talk about anxiety... Ugh.

I think during the info session the lady said they usually receive over 600 applications. So if it’s just about 300 this time maybe that’s not so bad. And during the info session she said they will be taking between 75 and 90. Fingers crossed and prayinggggg?

Yeah I remember that too. I was pretty stoked when I read that as of now it is only 300. I'm sure that will increase over the course of the next week with today being the application deadline. I doubt that an additional 300 applications will come in though.

Yeah the science section is usually touted as the hardest portion of the TEAS. I dumped a TON of time into review and practice for it, took a bunch of practice tests, and still only got an 87.2. Now that everything is all said and done I am glad that I took the AP professor for AP1 and AP2 that I did. He was BRUTAL and it took a lot of work to get an A in his class but I feel like he set me up well for the TEAS.

Luckily, I had reached out to a few friends who are in TWUs nursing program about the TEAS and they warned me that you may feel the most prepared for the science section but in reality you're not.

I agree that the math was pretty easy. I studied too much for it and blew off the language portion which I felt was the hardest section.

Ugh, I know. ? wish I got tracking for it because I need to know if they received it! Wine will be my best friend this month lmao. And that is insane!! I did not know it was that arduous of a process.

Did you apply to any other nursing schools? I didn’t and I’m kinda kicking myself for not, but I’m just really set on going to Collin.
