Collin College ADN Spring 2016

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone. I have been searching for a Collin College Nursing applicants for spring 2016 thread for weeks and I have not seen one so I figured I would start one my self: ) I will be turning in my application for the program this week and I wanted to share my story. I made A's in all my sciences. I made an A in English and a B in humanities, general psychology and life span psychology. I made a 6 on the PSB as well. I will be applying with 27 points because of the 3 B's I made in humanities and the psychology classes. Because I will only be applying with 27 points I am apprehensive about getting in. I have worked so hard and come so far for this moment, I will just have to give it to God. I've only taken my sciences once, which is good according to the nursing department as they are really factoring acceptance into the program based on taking your sciences once (they told me studies show those who take their sciences once and get an A the first time tend to do better in the program). However, I hope it's enough. I have children, I work full time and it took everything in me to get A's in my sciences and a 6 on the PSB. On the old point system I would be applying with 16 points (I know I need to get over it). I have been following the allnurses site for about a year and a half and I have had the opportunity to share in many wonderful experiences. Most of you that have posted had 4.0's and I've seen the joy you express when you get that acceptance and I am so happy for you all. I hope there is someone out there that applied and got in with similar applying factors and if so, wouldn't mind posting. I'd love to hear from anyone who will be applying or has applied for the Spring 2016 start and what your stats look like. Please do share. Best wishes to you all.

So what type of shoes is everyone going to buy?

Kristinka6, that's a good questions. Have we received any communication on what type of shoes are required? I am looking forward to the emails we are suppose to be receiving and orientation :)

Hi everyone,

has anyone received anything from the Nursing department yet? I've been checking my emails and I haven't really gotten any emails about the background check yet. Just making sure I'm not the only one..

I have not received any emails from the Nursing department and I've been stocking my email lol. Have you received anything yourself? I was looking at past post and the previous accepted bunch didn't receive the email for the fast pass until a month after they got their letters! The class before that received the fast pass email 2 weeks after their acceptance letters. I believe the Nursing department has to wait until the the BON enters all of our names in their database before we can get registered for the fast pass. I just want to get everything out of the way. I will be sure to post when I get my email.

Hi Everyone! Has anyone received an email about the Fast Pass or anything else? I haven't. I was on the Texas Board of Nursing website and found some helpful information about the Fast Pass and FAQ's. Below is one of the FAQ's and attached is a link for other FAQ's for Nursing Students, I am sure most of us will have similar questions. I am excited about orientation and look forward to seeing you all on Friday:D

How quickly will I be able to schedule my fingerprint appointment? The BON makes every attempt to enter the rosters within ten (10) business days. We will send an email notification to your school when the information has been entered.

It's been nearly 4 weeks since we received our acceptance letters and over 10 business days since all the signed acceptance letters were received. We should probably get an email any day now YAY!

No, I still haven't received any emails either! Looking forward to orientation and meeting others on Friday too! í ½í¸€

I also haven't received anything. I went ahead and got CPR certified yesterday just to get that out of the way.

Kristinka6, where did you get your CPR certification from, how long was the class and how much was it? Thanks a bunch!

I went with "Always CPR Training Center". It took approximately 4ish hours. It was a total of $55 which includes the training and a booklet that is required.

I'm a little bothered right now. I spoke with a nice girl in my class yesterday and found out she was accepted into UTA's Nursing program 3 weeks ago and received the fast pass a week after the acceptance (so just 2 weeks ago) and she already has her fingerprinting appointment scheduled for today. I was told it can take 2 months to receive the results, although it generally doesn't, it can take a while. We are required to have the blue cards turned into the Nursing department NO LATER THAN January 9th (which is a 2 months and 1 week away) or we forfeit our spot, and according to the recruiter there are no exceptions. I just needed to vent. Thanks for listening and try to have a good day.

Good Afternoon Ladies! it was nice seeing you all at orientation. I got the email for the FastPass and I scheduled mine for tomorrow. I'll keep you all posted when I get it back in the mail.

Has anyone else got their fingerprinting out the way? I did mine last Tuesday and the results came back the next day and sent to the BON last Wednesday. A few people I know in the program received their results in 1 week, but many others took 2 weeks or more. Just wanted to know if anyone else is waiting.
