Hi everyone!
I have been looking around the site for info on the College of New Rochelle Accelerated program and there doesn't seem to be too many people applying or in the program.
If anyone has any information about this program (how competitive it is, if it is any good, any other relevant info) it would be greatly appreciated! :)
Ms. A, GT, and Ms. L,It's great to see that we all have been communicating and getting along well. I appreciate all the insight and information regarding the college of New Rochelle.
If I receive a rejection letter I will apply somewhere else or continue my Masters Degree, but to be truthful, I really want to challenge Nursing.
Ms. A
What are some of the things you are doing in your clinicals at the LTC Nursing Facility. Were you afraid when you first got there and had to perform on your own..........Please Share:twocents:
Ms. GT
You express yourself in a way that shows you are very intellectual and have the ability to succeed in anything you choose or put your all into. I don't see you as having a problem in Nursing..............
Ms. L
I believe you will be accepted, if anyone is not going to be accepted it may be me...........
the reason I say that is because most of my prerequisites came from a Technical School and I received an A in the majority of those courses whether they accept them is up to the college. The last college I attended accepted the courses as transfer credits.................My fingers are truly crossed.
BlackBeauty,
Have you looked into Concordia College in Bronxville, NY? They just began a 15 month Accelerated BSN program last fall and I got in for this fall 2009. I too got accepted to CNR for Spring 2009, but deferred because I wanted to hear back from Concordia. Plus, I really didn't want to spend 2 years in the individualized track lol. I didn't have the computer class to start the accelerated @ CNR - I had Computer Programming from my undergrad but they said I had to take intro to computers! That's how they get you I guess, haha. Well, I'm glad I waited because I like Concordia way better: the campus itself, the admission process, Nursing department is very organized, friendly, everything is done online (i.e. registration), and it's cheaper. Fall 2009 is full but you can try for Fall 2010 if you're looking into applying elsewhere. If you'd like to check them out, here's their website: concordia-ny.edu
Best of luck to you and everyone else!
Hi Annod81,
Thanks for the information on Concordia College in Bronxville. I am more concerned about how I am going to pay for school then I am getting into one. The Masters Program will give me automatic financial aid, but a second BSN is asking for a lot since I am an independent and I have taken out so many loans for various schools since 1981. I was a late bloomer:jester:
Now I want what I want, and I have to find a way to get it. If anyone know of any sure shot loans that help students get a second BSN please do not hesitate to respond.
Ms. GT,
Were the books $500 hundred dollars? you never did tell me the name of your books for each class.
Most scholarships won't give you anything until your senior year. As for books, I'm still getting them. I've spent 157 on 4books, and I'm a bargain hunter so that should tell ya. I priced out everything-the most expensive books were Foundations of nursing/NUR 209 at 150for the course pack-I don't know if we need the lab manual. And pharm 212&212L- at 200. So about $560 for one semester. I plan to sell some back. Like NUR 212L clinical calculations-the dosage math could be learned from a review book. All the books are on their bookstores website since I did to order all yet, your first set of clases should be 107/207, 209 and 209 Lab, 212 & 212L.

Oh okay, I was assuming your main concern was acceptance/rejection into a program judging by your previous post I quoted. Well, all second degree programs are going to be expensive, some more so than others - With the exception of SUNY Acclerated BSN programs, but they are highly competitive. If cost/paying for it is the issue, you're better off going PT, for your ADN, or traditional BSN and having an employer pay the majority of it. Either way, best of luck!
