Hi everyone!
I have been looking around the site for info on the College of New Rochelle Accelerated program and there doesn't seem to be too many people applying or in the program.
If anyone has any information about this program (how competitive it is, if it is any good, any other relevant info) it would be greatly appreciated! :)
Thanks GT,
I am not going to worry about it any longer, cause I am still trying to figure out how to get all of this tuition that is requested from us. I have been working on loans etc. etc.
I am more worried about that, then the school, but I think I will go to the extreme to pay for that tuition in hopes of being able to succeed at finding a job when I am finish, and complete my Masters with the 19 credits that is missing.
Anyway GT,
How is it going so far, no books yet?
No books, this Tuesday I will. As far as loans go, it will cost 51k, 7500 a year from stafford loans, so 36k you must find. Considering you make over 65k per year as a nurse and you cut the luxuries for 2-3years you could pay it off. It's just finding a job that's a problem. Ohh, I'm trying to figure out what to wear to orientation.....I'm thinking business casual, but I don't want to be too overdressed...maybe black skirt and button up with vest? Plus we take id pictures so I want to look nice...agh.
I am currently attending CNR and I do not like it there.:crying2:
They are very nice when they want you to attend, but as soon as you start the treatment is awful. You have to be VERY strong to finish the program. Despite all the money that you pay, there is not a lot of equipment to work with.
:cry:The woman in change of the LCN worries more about the carpet on the floor than the equipment to pratice with. It is a shame. Most importantly, they want you to be efficient but they are not. Think of CNR as BOOT CAMP. They do not foster student's growth. Maybe when you are researching ask them what percentage of students that start the program actually finish.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
Mz A,
I've decided to go nude, just kidding....what happened at CNR-is it with a few administrators or widespread? I'm very nervous about these comments, but if it's as bad as my undergrad I won't be surprised. The plan is to get in and out quickly, with a new degree. The other person I spoke to (who is a RN now) said to be prepared and don't expect to be handheld. I think that as long as they are not completly insolent/or evil I will be okay...hopefully. There only 13 people in the accelerated program...wonder what happened to the 25?
1. Has your treatment at CNR changed your want to be a nurse?
2. With all things considered, if you had to do it all over again and CNR was the only school you were accepted, would you have still gone or just reapplied to a different school?
Hi GT,
I see you have your classes, that is great. I was also reading what Robert08 said and Ms. A. My goodness that hit home when I read it. To think after reading that about equipment and the carpet I was wondering what was next. So I took Robert08 advice and sent Connie a short note..... Two questions only......One was what is the percentage, and the other was pertaining to the usage of equipment whether it is 2 to 1 or 4 to 1 or even 6 to 1. I never received a response from her.
I still have'nt received my letter and they were suppose to have went out this week.
Ms. A.
Are you glad the first semester is over and when do you start your clinicals. Also do you think what they have taught you so far is relevant enough for you to enter your clinicals.
Robert08,
Thanks for all of the Great Information, where are you in the program as of today..........Did you start your clinicals?
Ms. Kwanee,
Did you hear anything yet? Also, is there any other students on the board who will be attending the fall 09.
Thanks
Hey BlackBeauty,
I am still waiting. I sent my application last August before I started my senior year of college for the accelerated program. When I did not receive a response for the May 6 decision letters, I called and found out that my application was forwarded to the individualized track. I don't know if that increased my chances or not. I don't know what the admissions board is looking for but I'm very optimistic. I really want to attend CNR regardless of the setbacks that I've heard on here about it. I have two years of clinical experience during my undergrad, and fresh out of undergrad I am excited to dive into nursing because I truly love the field. I hope that we all get in to achieve our dreams. Lets hope that we here from them by next week...Good Luck..

Hey Guys,
May 21, was graduation at CNR and most offices were closed including nursing-and remained closed until this Tuesday. Plus, when I was there on the 12th, there were boxes of files on the floor for the Fall applicants. I don't think that May 26th is their final day-maybe a bit after that because we also have orientation on 6/2-and that office slows at those times.
Good luck guys!
