College of New Rochelle Accelerated Program

Published

Hi everyone!

I have been looking around the site for info on the College of New Rochelle Accelerated program and there doesn't seem to be too many people applying or in the program.

If anyone has any information about this program (how competitive it is, if it is any good, any other relevant info) it would be greatly appreciated! :)

:eek:Scary! What you say............There is NO!!!!! Parking only on side streets? The TEAS is Mandatory............Here is a site with all the Practice Exams. http://www.testprepreview.com/teas_test_breakdown.htm I tell you it all sound depressing and a whole lot of out of pocket cash.............Times like this make me wish my mother and father was still alive to help..........

Thanks for the update....I wonder did you meet Prairie at the meeting? Anyway, good luck and best wishes

It's a residential area, so you'll end up parking somewhere. The cost is crazy, and financial aid is minimal. The individualized track classes for fall are alot...3 hr gaps to use, but you can't really move your car because you'll loose your parking. The money is sobering, I'm paying plus paying for housing...and those expensive books....my goodness. Good luck everyone, well make it...

Hi GT,

I read somewhere, that there are parking stickers for commuters that you must purchase it. I am going to retrace my steps and find out.

hi gt,

i found it..........

parking

four parking lots are located on the main campus and are available for parking by commuter students, faculty, and staff of the college with a valid cnr parking tag. in addition, parking is available to faculty and staff along castle place.

parking tags

parking tags are issued by the security front office and are required for parking on castle place or in any of our parking lots. the fee for the tag is $5, and it is valid from september 1 until august 31 of the following year.

parking tags should be placed on the rearview mirror facing outward. faculty/staff tags allow parking on castle place or in the parking lots in all spaces not restricted or otherwise designated. student tags allow parking only in any of the parking lots, for commuter students only. the college also has a designated number of handicapped accessible spaces available on campus. they are, however, on a first-come, first-served basis.

due to limited on-campus parking, resident students are not permitted to purchase parking tags or to park on campus.

see the campus map for available parking locations.

parking enforcement

college parking regulations are enforced by the security department, as follows:

monday - thursday, 8am - 7pm

friday - saturday, 8am - 5pm

sunday, unrestricted

  • parking is not permitted on castle place between the hours of midnight and 6am.
  • under state law, parking is never permitted in a fire lane nor in the spaces designated handicapped. this parking is enforced by the city of new rochelle as well as by the security department.
  • the storing of a vehicle on college property is prohibited.
  • vehicles must be removed from the parking lots and from castle place during snowstorms for plowing.

violations of the parking regulations will result in the issuance of a summons. the first summons is $5, and each summons thereafter is $10. violations may be paid at the security office during office hours. payments are accepted by cash, check or auxiliary account. the college is authorized to immobilize a car through the use of a "boot" for persistent violations of these regulations. additionally, parking tags are not issued to individuals with outstanding parking fines.

There are more parking stickers than parking spots on campus. I only saw one lot, and the rest was parallel parking on the streets inbetween halls/buildings. Visit campus you'll see it's tight. Mind you, I went during finals week when there was not alot of ppl. I'm supposed to go up again next week so I'll take pics and post them so everyone will get a clear idea.

That will be fine, in any event just in case parking is outrageous, when you take the Metro North how far away is the school.

Hi BB, Thanks for your message! I'm not sure how to respond privately, but everything is okay. I've been mostly lurking the past few days because i've been doing some very serious internal debating about whether to accept admission or not... I was all set to go to CNR, but also found out that I was accepted to a very good and VERY affordable 2-year ADN program. I don't think that I can pass up the chance to do this completely debt-free & with a much less stressful schedule that leaves me time to keep working part time and to focus on my marriage. I do want the BSN (and, eventually, my MSN), but think the best path for me is to wait and do a bridge program down the road (& hopefully have my employer pay for it!).

So, sadly, I don't think I'll be meeting any of you either over the summer or in the fall. Best of luck to you all!

Hi Prairie,

Take your time with making decisions, it is always wise to do that because I truly understand what you are talking about. It is extremely expensive, and you have to have help if you don't have the luxury of someone to help you through.

Like me, I've been to so many schools, what a waist of time and I am still looking for a good JOB with this economy the way it is making sound decisions is the best way unless you have help. I was just telling the board, I wish I had my mom and dad here to help me, but let's face it I am 54 years old and I have to make a decision now or never. I forced with completing my Masters in Business Management to which I only need 24 credits, or accept the invitation to attend Lehman College Graduate Program in Special Education. Both of the above course I get tuition assistance. The college of new rochelle I have to take loans. But my husband wants me to go to nursing school because he is saying I would make a good nurse and he would help me the best way he can:eek:

Confused in Manhattan

Pra. And BB,

Whatever you guys decide, good luck and best wishes. CNR is only possible for me do to a loan. I am in a serious relationship-but not engaged, and the amount of time I have to devote to this will strain my relationship, so I understand. We have spent alot of time here sharing info, but it is not in vain, future students will benefit. It's been a great chat. Good luck everyone!

Hi GT,

I don't give up when it comes to survival, this will be my lively hood if I am accepted and I pass that TEAS exam I will be in the Loan game with you, because nurses make a lot, and I have been in to many schools to keep going and going and going like the energizer bunny. I am not getting off this ride here, I want to keep going. You can say that again, I will be owing everyone when I finish.

That will be okay with me being that nurses make a good chunk of change after completing nursing school. I always take a chance, I'm up for the challenge. There is a light at the end of the road for me.:yeah:

Therefore, keep me informed cause I want to know everything right down to the syllbis and how many classes we can take per semester.

I appreciate all that you have done. Thanks.............

The letter did not say anything about the Teas, but I noticed that too, I'll ask tomorrow about it. I think it's a general test though so it shouldn't be too bad. Mz A, did you have to take it?

Sorry for the delay...this was finals week. No I did not have to take the TEAS. This may be a new requirement or a very old piece of information.

Parking is really not an issue. I commute from NJ and have never had an issue with not being able to find parking. There is a big lot behind the gym, that is never full. I have actually never had to park over there though.
