College of Marin (COM) Fall 2023 Nursing Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

This thread is for anyone who is applying to College of Marin’s Fall 2023 Nursing Program

Specializes in CNA.

Hi All,

I am currently at nursing school and applied last year to College of Marin nursing program. I applied with 70 points only with no experience, no bachelors, no healthcare license. So I thought I wouldn't get accepted any school, but for my surprise I got accepted in 3 schools including college of marin. I decided to go to CCSF RN program which is amazing program. Good luck everyone and never lose the faith!

I needed purchasing the ATI study bundle for the TEAS  (it was a bit pricey but worth it for me since I'm 30 and a lot of the material is from way back...LOL). I blocked out about 5-6 weeks and studied a few hours everyday to ge through all the material. It depends on your strong points and weak points how much time you need to devote- so I for sure reccomend purchasing the ATI study tests (take one now, see where you need to focus studying, then take the second a week before you plan on taking the test).

but that's about all I used to study and I ended up doing better then I thought!

I appreciate you so much for answering all my questions! ?

Hello! I'm curious to find out how many people applied. I'm just surprised this doesn't have much activity/posts. I have seen previous threads that are much more active and everyone just supports each other through the agonizing pain of waiting LOL

Good luck! I was only able to add up 75 by my count but I'm still hopeful!

did you get your petition for substitution papers back?

I did mine online and didn't realize there was a deadline (even tho the form didn't state one and just said everything had to be completed by the application deadline) so ended up submitting mine a couple of days later. I went to one of the workshops and they said they were still accepting them; however, when I asked how I would receive confirmation that my petition for substitution was accepted, they didn't know. I just received a confirmation email that it was submitted.

I didn't receive an email. I submitted mine along with my application and last week I received a copy back through regular mail saying my classes were approved. Maybe you'll receive one in the next couple of days

Hi Guys! Currently in the program - you may not receive a copy of your petition for substitution form until weeks - a month after submission. (frustrating, I know). As long as you went over it with a counselor and they said it looked good, then it most likely looks good and will be valid with regards to the program.

Sadly after that there is not much communication until acceptance letters are sent out. For us, first batch of acceptances came out in end of may.

best of luck!

Hopefully soon, but I am pretty confident that all my courses at least the ones required for the program are going to be accepted. They did say that after the preferred deadline which was Jan 14, it was going to get very busy with applications so they weren't sure if they would get back before the deadline.

If I remember correctly, I sent mine out to on the 20th of Jan. I wish they would send confirmation of points as well

I think it's the lack of updates that makes it feel like time is going by sooooo sloooooow haha.

I also did read on their FAQs that they will start sending letters of acceptance mid May so it sounds like we might get them towards the end too.

How are you liking the program? are you 1st year or 2nd?
