Hi! I am currently in the program. Our first round acceptances weren't sent out until end of May. I was in the second batch and I believe I got mine the second week of June. I had about 80 points. I know someone that had 70 points and she was not a last minute add, so not sure where they stopped point wise.  Last year they had over 400 applicants for 40 spots so it took a quite a bit of time to sift through them all. I don't know any particulars about this cycle. There are folks in the program that got a phone call Friday night and school started on Monday. People decline for so many reasons so there are spots opening up continuously.  I know the waiting is excruciating and I wish I had magic words that would assuage your anxiety but I do not! Breathe and  practice patience, as a nursing student and nurse, you are going to need it! You guys worked hard to get here, be proud of that. Get your house clean, organize your life and spend time w loved ones. The program takes a lot of time and energy, but it's worth it!  Sending positive thoughts out into the universe for you guys!

Hi! I am currently doing my pre-reqs. And wanted to know where do COM nursing students do their clinicals? ?

All of you who are waiting, have patience and keep the faith. I think I had 7-10 days to accept or decline. So all of the first round folks have to make their decisions and then it will be on to the next round.  They admitted people until the last possible moment, literally.   And those of us who will be second years will be more than happy to help in any way we can. It takes a village to get through nursing school!

There are quite a few different places. I think Santa Rosa is the farthest we go north. There are a couple in the city as well. Be prepared to travel!

Congrats to everyone getting acceptance emails!

I have a random question for the students who are already attending COM... what do your school uniforms look like? Also, are you able to wear non-uniform scrubs to classes/labs, or is it full uniform all the time?

Do they do a couple a day or a week ?
Because if the program starts in August, they can easily send  10 acceptance letters a week...

I'm just growing more anxious ?

I keep refreshing my emails and this thread ?

Hey, same here! I called enrollment services today and this is what I understand as of now.

They emailed the first round of people who had the highest scores and are going to slowly work down the list until all spots are filled. A lot of schools haven't sent out acceptances yet so there's still hope. As people get accepted to other schools, they might accept those spots and open more at Marin.

There's also a random lottery for like 2-4 people who they are going to do after they fill the other spots with the highest scores. So there's also that.

I emailed the program as well and they said we should hear something about our scores by the end of May.

We're in this together!

Hi! First of all, congratulations to everyone who got accepted. It must be such a relief.

I am also curious about the process of them sending letters out. I figured since they already sent out acceptance letters yesterday I could email the nursing department to get confirmation on my points. I told them I calculated between 80-85 points and they stated, "We just started sending out acceptances. You should hear something by the end of May." I'm curious if anybody else has emailed them. I kind of expected them to respond with confirmation of my points since I read last year's thread and people were getting more direct answers. This one is very vague.

Hi guys! Current first year.

The nursing department is not responsible/ the ones counting points. Enrollment services count the points...So unfortunately it won't help to contact the nursing department with that question at this time. With that said, it's kinda this awful time where patience is virtue. As people accept or reject their offered spot in the cohort, the program will continue to send out acceptances.

last year, people received acceptances up until the week before the program starts in August...

hang in there guys!

Hi! We are lucky in that our scrubs are Hunter Green (any brand works) and not white !

we only wear scrubs to clinicals and SIM lab, the rest of the time just regular attire.

The department and SNA will send out more information on uniforms etc once the acceptances are finalized ?

For those already in the program:

Is there time to take a 3 unit corequisite during the program? I do much better learning in person and prefer not to take Psych 114 and Soc 110 online during Summer. Please let me know if it's a terrible idea to take these classes during the regular semester.

Thanks

Everyone is different. The first semester can be very overwhelming. There are variables that come into play. Will you be working or have children or other responsibilities etc.  Personally, I don't think I could have handled even one more class let alone two and I'm an excellent student, as are most of you!  One of my classmates took just one extra class and said she regretted it.  Take it with a grain of salt, it's just my opinion but if it were me, I wouldn't  anything extra to an already full semester.

Hi everyone! My name is Lisa I am currently enrolled in the program. I happy to answer any questions =)
