Has anyone had any experience attending Nursing school at College of the Mainland in Texas City, Texas? I have looked at thier pass rates with the state. How is the program there? Any advice on application/ acceptence?
@Rocket_ryder- how many points did you recieve for SJC adn? How was your hesi? I thought about applying there bc I am a current student, but I never took the biology section of the exam and all testing centers are booked until the end of May. So I will be applying to LVN at SJ and here at COM. The LVN is only my back up to COM. I hope I get in!!

Thats the thread for the San Jac ADN Fall Im applying to.
I had 24 points on the rubric outta the 30. The nursing admin woman told me to get 25-30 to be "safe" so I think I have a pretty good shot. I got an overall 91.55% on the HESI with my lowest section being BIology at 80%. All others were 92% or higher. I thought it was a pretty easy test. I just have not taken bio since 9th grade in high school and I graduated in 2003, so I guess it was about 11 years ago.
San Jac is my 2nd choice as I am rooting for UTMB for their BSN program, but my gpa is killing me and I have yet to take their entrance test - TEAS V. I take that on the 24th...so I will have a better idea then, depending on how i do.
How come you didn't take the Bio portion when you took the HESI? I wanted to apply to UT houston too, but they didnt have the critical thinking portion or chem portion on the San Jac HESI. Makes me wish I had gone to an outside testing facility....but it doesn't really matter, I dont want to drive into the med center everyday anyway! I hate traffic...
I am not certain as to whether or not they will accept scores from other testing facilities, but I would assume that they do. I swear I had found outside testing area that were not affiliated with ANY school, but now that I am looking agin I cannot find any or I would provide a link.
San Jacinto requires Reading,Grammar, Vocab, Math, Biology and A&P, also the Personality and Learning Style sections. They say the Pesonality and learning style do not affect your chance of getting in, but why would they require it if it didn't make a difference?
There is an addition Chemistry portion as well as a critical thinking portion that is required by some other schools, but I do know that at San Jacinto's testing center, they don't even show up! So you do not have the option to take anything but what they require.
i would STRONGLY recommend the study guide before taking the HESI! I read through each section and it realy helped me... it goes through every type of question that will be on the test and has a good science review section for both A&P and Bio...
I really do not think that I would have done as well as I did if it weren't for that book. I have one for sale if you are interested....
